CD laundry soap?

What kind of laundry soap do you wash your CD's in?  And do you have hard water?  (we definitely do)

I have a solid stash for the munchkin, but have no clue how I'll wash them when we start using them.  Embarrassed

DH got 20 from a co-worker who is potty training their youngest, and the inserts smell a little bit of urine.  What can I do to best get this smell out before we use them?

Re: CD laundry soap?

  • I would bleach all the stuff you inherited.  It always seems to get smells out when needed.  You can also use bacout, but bleach is probably your best bet.  For regular detergents check out this http://pinstripesandpolkadots.com/laundry%20basics.htm and they have a list of cd friendly detergents.
  • I use planet or rockin green. We have soft water so we use less. Rockin green makes detergents for the type of water you have. In your case you'd get Hard Rock.
  • we use planet because i can get it right at hannaford; rockin green hard rock would work for you i'm sure.  you could also use calgon to soften the water (it's in the detergent isle).  but definitely use about a 1/4 cup of bleach to get rid of the yuckies

  • We use Rockin Green and love it!  I use it for our towels too every once in a while and it makes them so soft!

  • I use Rockin Green and sometimes Tide Free and Clear. And I love bleach. I will only use it on them every other month or so to get the stinkies out but if I could I would bleach every thing in my house.
