2yr old Bday Present

I found this cute idea for a book bag. I was thinking about making one for my 2yr old cousin's son and putting a few books in it. I would love it-but he's really into sports and not reading.

Would you like it-or think it was a dumb gift?

I would do his name and make the main fabric of the bag firetrucks-which he is obsessed with right now.

EDIT: Here's a link if you can't see the pic. http://www.dana-made-it.com/2011/01/simple-book-bags-tutorial.html

Maybe this one is a better idea, so it can close?! That way he doesn't lose toys or books out of the top?

I think he would love it, especially if you tell him that's his name on it. Nicholas is just now starting to get into books. I didn't think he ever would, so just because your cousin's son isn't really into them right now doesn't mean he won't think you're cool for giving him some. :) The only suggestion I have is maybe using his initial and not his whole name, or check with your cousin to see what s/he would prefer. I know I'm wary of putting Nicholas' name on the outside of things. I was going to make him a similar bag myself using his initial.
  • My girls use bags to haul their toys around the house too so even if he's not into books, he'll enjoy putting things in it. I agree that initials might be better or just the first letter of his name. You don't want strangers calling him by name. He might think they know him.

  • That's not dumb at all! I would venture to say that will be the best gift at the party. It's personal, handmade, and will be full of books. Seriously, it doesnt' get much better than that! :-)

You could fill it with books about sports. target has some really cute board books in the $1 spot that are all about bugs and creep crawlies--would he like those?

SWEETNESS! I'll email your Gmail acct.

personally I like the 1st one you showed, the Hobo is cute, but doesn' have handles. Say you were to go to the library, it would make it harder for mom to carry that way!

And Mrs.Reem makes a valid point maybe a BIG first letter of their name?

  • Depending on how involved you want to get.....I stumbled upon this tutorial yesterday. Very cute backpack.   http://www.e-junkie.com/madebyrae/product/91333.php
