So as my ticker says, we're off to Hawaii this June for SIL's wedding. It's "Beach Formal" and I have nothing in the closet that matched. So we went shopping yesterday- JCP had a great sale and I could drag DH out to get help with his good eye. I came home with 2 dresses from JCP and 1 from Forever 21. I'm going to keep the F21 one since it's cheap, fun, and good for dinner for 2, but don't know if it's too trendy/ inappropriate for the wedding. I would only keep one from JCP because I just don't need 3 new dresses.
So help ladies- which dress do you think would be most appropriate for an afternoon into evening Hawaii wedding on the beach?
Dress 1 (Forever 21):
Dress #2: (DH's fave)
Dress #3: With & Without jacket (most utilitarian as it could go to Easter or work)

Re: Another wedding, another dress decision
OK, I don't like dress #2, something about the tiered skirts just turn me off... its a nice dress and all, but it doesn't do anything for me...
I like dress #1, but I think you are right I am not sure it is wedding appropriate
And I LOVE dress #3, but I think I would ask SIL to clarify the "formal" part of beach formal... because this doesn't seem formal to me... but I would keep it because you can use it for work, Easter, a different wedding or dinner out with YH
maybe check with SIL to see if she thinks #1 or #3 is what she thinking of when she puts that on the invite...
Number one is awesome!
I also really like number three and love when dresses can do double duty.
You look fantastic in all three!!
"Beach formal" is a funny thing...
I love all three dresses on you, but I kind of like the way 1 and 2 look the best...normally 2 would not be something I'd be into, but I think the above-the-knee length is really flattering on you! 1 may be too casual and I guess you could potentially be uncomfortable in a long dress, depending...3 is cute, but probably not my choice for a wedding.
Either way, I think keeping 1 is a good idea, since I find long dresses a great thing to have all summer long for everyday and dressing up a bit.
Fishy, I'm not sure you are helping!!! hahahaha....hugs
To me, beach formal means "don't show up in cut-offs and a bikini top."
I think dress #1 with a black wrap would be perfect for the wedding.
Dress #2 looks like Hawaii but I'm meh on it.
I love dress #3 for Easter/work. So cute!
I really dislike #3.
I really LOVE #1 and I agree that adding a black pashmina and some nice jewelry and you will be good to go!
That's ladies! I really appreciate all the honest opinions!
So I think #1 is nice, but I'll be too afraid of slipping to expose the "peaches." #2 is DH's fave because it makes my boobs look good and he thinks the ruffles are fun. I think the ruffles remind me of a MOB dress and it's a little short for ocean breezes. #3 is pretty for everyday whatever events, but it maks my boobs flat and it's a little long. And I don't really do whatever events, so I'm not sure what I'd do with it beyond the wedding.
We were in a rush at the mall as because I asked DH to lend his good fashion eye, that also meant bringing the small one. Between him being a ticking time bomb before nap time and me hating shopping, we were moving pretty fast. I tried on this dress but wasn't ready to commit in that moment. I think I'll go back and check it out again this week- it has a lot of what is good about these other dresses and it was one a top contender.

This!
(They all look fabulous!)
They all look great! I love number one and your alternate choice. I think your alternate choice might actually be my favorite. My least favorite is number two--I'm not much of a fan of the ruffles, and I think the ocean breeze might catch you. You should keep number three for Easter!
