i received an invitation to a wedding shower for the fiance of one of DH's best friends. I love this guy like a brother and he's great. His fiance is fine too but we've spoken a total of maybe twice? So, I don't know her very well.

Would you go to the shower?  There will be people I know there but I'm also kind of busy and Dh would have to watch the girls.

Just send a gift?

What would you do?

    I would go if I was available, but I love doing things like that even I don't know the person very well. :o) You could always send a gift or have the couple over for dinner sometime if you didn't feel comfortable going.

    I probably wouldn't go or send a gift. I don't think anyone that RSVP'ed no to my shower sent a gift; is that really the norm?

    I hate events like this unless I know the person really well, and then I still only sort of like them.

    I'd probably ask DH how important it was to him that I went, and if he wanted me to go, and if he minded watching the kiddos for it. Depending on his answers, and how passionate he was about the answers, I'd make my choice. If it worked out, I'd try to go, as my DH doesn't have a ton of best friends. Otherwise, I'd send a nice card, a gift, and not feel guilty at all. :)

    DH has tons of friends and I'm friends with most of their wives but I came on the scene after all but this guy were married already so it's a tough choice. DH would probably do anything just so he didn't have to watch the girls, so maybe I'll just send a gift instead. DH has the bachelor party that weekend as well, so he can bring our good wishes.

    i would go part b/c i like going to those, and part its an excuse to get out of the house with no kid(s) and talk to oter adults about non baby topics.
