Tell me your Easter plans...

My family doesn't really do anything to celebrate Easter, besides attending church.  So I am interested in how you will spend the day.

Easter is an in-law holiday for me.  (BOO!)  DH and I head out to Justin to spend a few lunch time hours with his dad's extended family.  There will be a lot of terrible food, lots of me avoiding eye contact (and conversation) with DH's dad/stepmom and an kids Easter egg hunt, where the eggs will be filled with left over Valentine candy.

Re: Tell me your Easter plans...

  • Easter is an IL day for me too, but it's okay... I love my MIL.

  • LOL!  Hope it won't be too bad!

I am going to attend Good Friday services tomorrow (haven't done that in awhile), then Sunday is church and this year I am hosting Easter brunch at my house but it will just be my mom and sister, and us.  I'll probably still get my daughter a small Easter basket--even though she's 17!

  • My mom still usually gets us something at Easter (and Valentine's Day, for that matter) and my sister and I are 24 & 29. I think she just likes giving us stuff.
  • We did Easter with the IL's last year, so this year is my family! yay!!

Except now DH is trying to squeeze in time with his family too, which kind of pisses me off. We didn't see mine last year, why should we try to "squeeze" yours in this year? Ugh.

  • Ahh, I <3 my families.

My parents will be in town on Saturday doing an open house at their townhouse so we are just going to go to dinner with them then.

We are just going to DH's parents for lunch Sunday.

    Easy Peezy.

  • Absolutely nothing and I am so excited!  Well, church.  That is something.  But, nothing family related.  Both of our families live far away and we both decided we didn't want to drive this holiday, so we will be staying home.  I can't wait.

  • I <3 our families too... just no one is doing anything this year. I know that were going to church.  Also, I may call my Nonni to see if she is cooking on Sunday and doing egg hunt for my cousins.

I would be pissed as well.

As for us, I don't imagine we will be doing anything.

Thanks. At least I know I'm not being irrational.

  • We're going to Hometown and staying with my parents, and we'll probably visit his mom for a few hours sometime during the weekend.  We don't really do a lot of special stuff, just mostly hang out, but then there haven't been any young kids in a while so we don't really do egg hunts or anything.
  • Church and then the Ranger's game. Neither of our families live in Texas so we usually don't have to spend holidays with them.
  • Saturday we will be driving to my Aunt's farm in Eastland.  Her hubby is the vet in town (yep only one) and they had some baby calves last week so the kiddos will get to feed the babies and then they will get to go horse back riding, play with the goats, paint Easter eggs and then we have a big Easter egg hunt for everyone and we will finish the day with a hayride through town.

Sunday we are having my mom, dad and step mom over for lunch at our house after church.  Nothing big but that way we didn't have to go to both of their houses they are coming to ours!

  • Well, I'm not going to Baton Rouge that's for sure.

We're going to church with my dad and brother and then meeting my uncle and the boys for a late lunch.  Then we'll be going back to Mesquite with my dad and brother to spend some time with Pippen.

Totally unrelated but I cannot take Tuesday off to go spend it with my dad and brother since it's TAKS.  I'll have to wait until after school to go be with them.

  • BEST NEWS EVER!!!  In-law Easter is cancelled.  Sunday is now a free day!  I was so excited when my DH emailed me that I almost took a victory lap around my office!
