Kindle users
Amazon is partnering with U.S. libraries to allow people to check out books through their Kindles. I'm pretty excited because it's free!

We bought my MIL a Kindle.
She never uses it.
THIS!! Plus, I look at a screen at work all day... it's kind of nice to rest my eyes of technology and unwind.
I have a Sony Reader which has had library capabilities for awhile now. So few libraries currently allow people outside of town to check out books though, so I hope Amazon can expand the availability.
I thought I would miss the actual book experience too but I don't really. I alternate reading e-books and bound books and love both.
I love my kindle! I don't miss holding a book, because I like to really snuggle down and read, and I sometimes got tired of holding the book in whatever weird position I curl into. You can make your own bookmarks if you want to go back and read somehting, and when you have to stop in the middle, it remembers your "page." As far as progress, there's a little progress bar on the bottom that shows how far you are in the book, and also has little chapter marks in it. What else ya got?
Haha - you are good! How much is an e-book versus a regular book. Oh - and one you can't beat - I have always wanted a library in my house when I 'grow up". I can't have a library if I have a kindle. Darn technology ruining my dreams.
A lot of the e-books are cheaper than regular books, or else they're the same - I don't think any are more expensive (or at least not that I've seen). Granted, I'm talking about new real-book prices, not like Half Price Books. Also, there is a way to share books from Kindle to Kindle, but you have to share your account information so you can only do it with people you really trust... but it's still possible. About your library... I have a friend who LOVES to read. I mean, she reads a couple books a week when work isn't busy (not at work, just when she isn't working OT), and loves all kinds, but her favorite is fantasy. So her compromise is that she buys real fantasy books, but all other books she buys are e-books. So, she has a floor-to-ceiling wall of books, and also a kindle. Any more hesitations?
You should sell Kindles.
Nope, no more hesitations. I think I might buy one now. I do like the idea of having all my books on one device that is easy to take with me everywhere.

Matt just bought me a kindle for the wedding and I really wanted one but was also hesitant for most of the same reasons you listed. I love being able to hold it with one hand and can read in pretty much any situtation. On the honeymoon I read sitting on the balcony, in bed, on the beach and never had an issue. I actually like the little progress bar at the bottom that says you are x% done even more than I liked looking at how many pages I had left. As far as the screen it is so easy on the eyes. Most books are cheaper and only a few (very new releases) are the same as regular books. Matt thought the kindle was a total waste of money and by the end of the honeymoon he kept saying I need a kindle.
Shh, don't tell anyone. Everyone in family has been in sales at some point, including my dad who owns and runs a retail store. I've always maintained that I am NOT a salesperson, and so never worked much at the store growing up... if they get wind of this, I'd be in big trouble!!
