DC-area Restaurant Question
Hi ladies! I'm from the Philly Nest, but have a question for you- We are visiting friends who live in Rockville, MD this weekend. Other friends of ours live in Bristow, VA, and we are all trying to gtg for dinner Friday. Neither set of friends is familiar with the other's areas (both just moved to their respective towns), but a co-worker of one friend suggested meeting in Fairfax Corner. Do you know of any restaurants that are close to there that are good? We will have an 8 month old and a 3 month old with us, and there needs to be pasta or seafood options, since it's Good Friday.

Re: DC-area Restaurant Question
You don't mean Tyson's Corner by any chance, do you? If so, there are a number of restaurants in the mall. You might call them (look up Tyson's Corner and you'll see a list of choices) and see if any will do call ahead seating. I really like Coastal Flats, which is part of the Great American Restaurants chain. Most of their restaurants do call ahead seating, but I'm not sure if that one does.
ETA: Apparently there's a Fairfax Corner. I had no idea. But there's a Coastal Flats there too. I'd call and ask about call ahead seating, and if they do it, that would be my vote.
Thanks ladies! I will mention Coastal Flats for sure- it looks like a good choice for our group.
We aren't going until about 8pm...our one friend just found out today she has a work meeting at 5pm so we are pushing dinner until later to give her time to get to the restaurant. Hopefully that will at least eliminate Friday rush hour issues for us.
Assuming there aren't any accidents, you should be fine by that time on a Friday - rush hour tends to start and end a little earlier this time of year. Plus lots of folks around here are on spring break, so traffic is lighter than usual this week.
I would second Coastal Flats, but if you can't call ahead there, there is a Guapo's (Mexican restaurant) in Fair Lakes, which is very close to Fairfax Corner. Their food is pretty good and if you want Mexican, it's a much better bet than the Rio Grande in Fairfax Corner.

If you do end up in Ffx Corner, I'll third Coastal Flats and also mention Rio Grande as well as PF Changs and another in the Coastal Flats group of restaurants called Ozzie's (Italian-ish). They are all right there.
While traffic might be better later, wait times won't. We went to dinner at Ffx Corner last week at 9:30 (waiting on friends to put three kids to bed at grandparents' house...) and there was an HOUR wait (but we did call-ahead). When the weather's nicer, Coastal gets even more packed, especially on Fridays in Lent.

If you go to Coastal Flats (yum!) I agree with pp saying it will likely be crowded, but you can play the call-ahead seating game. For an 8:00 arrival I'd call maybe around 6:00 and see what the wait is ... if it's fine, call back at 6:30 or 7 and put in your name.
They won't seat you until your entire party is there, but at least you'll have a good place in line.
