anyone else use mint.com on here?

this website is my new crack. i use to do all our finances on an excel spreadsheet before milo was born but i don't have time now. this totally makes it possible to do it without me lifting to many fingers.

Re: anyone else use mint.com on here?

  • I do, but it's more of a backup tool and balance notification for me. I use MSMoney for our budgeting and bills.
  • I use it, but it's more for monitoring. DH has a massive spreadsheet that he uses to really track everything and forecast.

lol this was me prior to having a baby. not really sure where that time goes now.

I can imagine. I think he'll probably keep it up, since he does it from work. And will not be a SAHD unless we win the lottery :)

  • OMG It's my crack too... DH keeps telling me I am totally obsessed with it.  I have it on my ipad, DH on his iphone and I check it online.  I love the budget feature so I can keep track of where we are going over and where we aren't.  I am so glad I'm not alone on this. I had it set up for about a year but only started using it the past few days... but I love it!

  • No.

I am too concerned about the security of it-

  • I was too but I called ING, which is highly secure, and they advised that they have not had any problems with it.

I guess you don't online bank or shop at all.
  • are you having any trouble with it? my accounts don't seem to be updating and it keeps saying to try again later!

Of course i do- I only shop online with a credit card that doesn't use my actual credit card #-

It is one thing if a site that I shop on is compromised by a security breach/hacker- as it is one credit card information- which is bad enough. However mint.com - if it were ever to be hacked- would have your ENTIRE financial profile at their disposal- all tied up with a big pretty red bow. No thank you. the idea of the site is a great one- don't get me wrong. however for me the risk does NOT outweigh any benefits. Really think about how much financial information is tied together on that site? all of your accounts are linked-

i am an accountant- I can do all of the financial planning on my own. My DH is a CIO of a large global money manager- he is VERY aware of the type of security protocol mint.com uses (as some of his clients use it as well)-

These sites are just as prone to hacks- it is scary stuff. Google RCA hack if you want to read more about it.
