It's Thursday Randoms

I saw that gas went up to 3.99. I filled up at half a tan and it was $22! Dang.

Re: It's Thursday Randoms

  • Oh to joys of buying gas right now. It's crazy!! I'm hearing that it may hit $6 a gallon for Summer. Anyone changing Summer Travel plans b/c it's gone up so much?

  • I don't think we'll change plans about travel, but we might try and cut costs in other areas to make up for what we're spending in gas.  We paid off the Jeep (1 year early!) the other week, so we have some extra money from the car payment that can go towards gas.
  • Yeah, with crazy gas prices, I plan on staying home more and driving less.  If public transportation ran out in the boonies where I work, I would consider using that to get to work, but the closest bus stop is 2 1/2 miles away.  I'm not about to walk that in an industrial area in my condition.

Congrats!! I love that feeling. I've been able to pay off my car loans early too.

Thanks!  Next up - Student Loans and Mortgage. Those will probably take a bit longer though. ;-)

  • The gas prices are killing us!  DH works in Lansing.  At least he carpools with this co-worker, but still, we are paying about $600 per month just in gas right now.  I saw the price per gallon went up $2 yesterday and $2 again today.  I don't think it will be long before its over $4 per gallon.  Its so depressing.  I might actually let my DH buy a motorcycle to save on gas.

  • It's crazy. Does anybody remember in the last couple of years it getting this high. I know it got near $4 but did it actually go over? I live in the city and really can't believe I'm thinking about looking into bus fair.

In London I think they pay $10-12 a gallon.

UPDATE: I check out the bus schedule just to see what it would be. I would have to leave my house 1hour before work if I took the bus and it would take 2 different Buses to get me there, well to Mi Blood at least.

  • I already stay home a lot more that I used to. I might be staying home more.

I jokingly told my H I was considering putting my car up for sale...but really, only an idiot would buy my gas guzzler with gas prices the way they are.

We are *so* lucky that H gets reimbursed for his gas expenses...if he didn't, he probably couldn't afford to do his job with gas prices of $4+.

Yes, it did go over $4 a few times. That was in 2008 when I was commuting to Grand Haven, so I remember it well.

Riding the bus is fun and easy! (Provided you have a bus stop closer than 2.5 miles...sorry Wop)

Thank you for introducing me to his blog.

  • Hmm taking the bus might be an option. I would have to go to SE side all the way to downtown probably  then over to the NE side. Wonder how long that would take. LOL
