Cost of daycare in CLT?

What do you pay for full time day care in Charlotte? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Thanks!

  • You might have better luck posting this on the NC bump board.  There is a link at the top of the page.

It depends on what part of Charlotte, but I'd say it ranges from $800 to $1200 a month.

  • I would agree!  I never knew child care was so expensive until I worked at a day care in college.  (Well I did the school age side of things) I don't know if they have any in the Charlotte area but when I went to NC State, I worked at Bright Horizons Family Solutions.  They really had high standards and most employees there had their associate degrees in early childhood, if not their bachelors.
  • It sucks that daycare is so expensive because the employees at most places make next to nothing.  With a bachelors degree I made only $10/hour as a lead teacher in a three year old room.

  • High end is about $285/week for an infant. Cost goes down slightly as the child gets older. But, for good care, expect to pay at least $1000/month.

    Have you considered a nanny?

  • I work as a nanny in pa, and I love it. When I have my own children that is the route I would like to take. More personalized attention. However going through a agency is very costly. I work through one now. But if you have a tough interviewing process you can find a nanny on your own. Good luck!

  • The daycare I worked at was $200-$250 a week. I would not recommend this particular daycare, though. If you'd like to know which one just PM me. I don't want to say it on here.
