Water for Elephants - follow-up from previous discussion

Well, this doesn't sound promising:

Sounds awful... like they just cashed in on a good book and didn't bother to make a decent movie. Sad.

  • OUCH.

  • I thought the book was kind of boring, so I'm not surprised.
  • I have to admit the previews don't look all that exciting either. I'll wait for it to come to DVD or the Riverview Theatre.

  • Bummer.  How can a circus be boring?
  • I never agree with reviews, but I think I have minimal standards when it comes to entertainment.  My sister and I are still going tomorrow.

  • I really hope the same thing doesn't happen with The Help.  That could make a really good movie!

The trailer for The Help makes it look like they've turned it into a light, comical chic-flick.  I'm preparing for disappointment with that one too.

I feel the exact same way. Which probably explains why I also like the Twilight movies.  Yes, I realize they are not award winning movies, but I don't really care.

Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

  • I'm not shocked.  I don't think RP is that great of an actor.  I also did not really see RW in this role.

I really liked the book, but it was sort of subtle and I've thought about how difficult it would be to translate that to film because movies usually require more obvious plots.

I'll still probably see it.  SO loves movies and it's my turn to pick.

I loved the book - it was all in the details. The detail that still gets me is the part where the book describes his old hands, brushing down the one strand of gray hair that was loose on his scalp. The book felt almost human to me.
