I just got a call from the dr who did my downs screening test. While everything looks normal for downs he said my HCG levels are really high. He isn't concerned right now but said later in the pregnancy it could cause the baby not to develop properly. I couldn't even ask him any questions b/c I was sitting at my desk and knew I would just start crying. T&Ps that the level goes down and everything is ok? And that I don't kill myself stressing for the next 3 weeks til I go back to the dr?
Re: Can I get some T&Ps?
I'm sorry honey. ::hugs::
go home, have a good cry, and then start researching. You might find it's not as bad as you think, or that the odds are really low. Information is your friend in this case.
You can also call/email me anytime you want to talk about this stuff. I don't mind, and it doesn't bore me like some other people. We should have lunch soon.

Thanks girls, I really appreciate it.
tons of hugs and T&P's for you
I"ll bet your baby will turn out to be President or something...he/she definitely owes you for all of the scares it's giving you.
I was just going to ask if it is possible that you have another little bean hiding in there?
Call me Kat =^..^=
I thought that too but didn't want to say it, lol. Allison, did they do betas on you in the beginning?
I honestly don't know. At my first apt they tested my urine and just said it came back positive, didn't give me any numbers. They also took blood at that apt but in my blood word online I didn't see anything about HCG numbers. When I went in for the first three u/s to monitor the bleed they didn't do anything but the u/s. At my last apt on April 11 they took a urine sample but only checked for glucose and protein.
I never had a beta test done but my understanding of it is that you get a blood draw early on (maybe 6ish weeks) and then 2-3 days later they repeat the test to make sure the HCG is increasing. It sounds like they didn't test you for this.
Yes but not until I go back on May 11th. So three more weeks of just waiting it out. I'm trying really hard not to stress about it but I'm not very successful. At least now if I start acting like a complete crazy woman I can blame it on all the extra hormones in my body!
It's during times like these that it sucks that you can't drink, LOL. ::hugs:: hang in there sweetie. The second your baby is born he/she is grounded for putting you through all this! LOL.
sending you t's and p's...from what I learned from having had a high risk pregnancy (AMA) is that the doctors must tell you the good, the bad and the ugly but then their actions speak volumes. If the dr. isn't telling you to go see a perinatalogist or having you come in sooner than 3 weeks, he's not too concerned. As for betas, they are generally done when there have been fertility issues or a previous m/c, but not for a first natural pregnancy. They didn't do any betas on me even though I was over 40.
