Re: Clicky poll - Are your finger nails always painted?

  • I used to always have them painted - always. I did them at home about once a week. But in the past couple years I stopped. Now they are rarely painted. I never find time.

  • My fingernails are never painted because of working in the lab.  In the warmer months, my toenails are always painted.

To answer your question about Zoya, I like that it doesn't contain many of the chemicals that other polishes do, which has resulted in me seeing healthier nails as well.

Sure.  It is formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, and camphor free, which is why a lot of people are liking it.

  • For years I did Pink and White Gel.  I finally soaked the gel off, to allow my natural nail to strengthen.  Right now I have nothing on them and they look like crap.  I always keep them looking nice because I meet with clients often.

    My toes always have color.

  • I love the look of painted fingernails on myself, and for that reason I spent a lot of time and money having acrylics and/or gels applied.  I got so sick of the expense, the amount of time spent at the salon and the damage being done to my natural nails that I finally stopped.  I desperately miss having pretty fingernails and my own are prone to splitting and peeling, so I never paint them myself (plus I suck at it).

I can't wait to get my first pedicure of the spring, though.  I'm dying for pretty pink toes.

  • I try to keep mine painted all the time. For those with crappy nails mine used to be horrible. I had acrylics for 9 years so they took a major beating. The key is to keep the nail bed super hydrated and to keep your cuticles healthy. Two things to do. One keep cuticle oil on them all the time. I use OPI it's rye vest I have found. I have bottles everywhere. I have one in the kitchen one in my bathroom and usually one in my purse. I used to keep one in my desk too. I put it on and wipe excess off with a tissue or just rub it in really well. I swear it makes a world of difference. The other thing is when you put moisturizer eye cream etc on wipe a little on your nails. It's full of good stuff, more so than hand cream so it really helps them stay healthy. I am addicted to my nails and slightly obsessed with my cuticles. It's a problem.
  • I try to keep clear at least on my nails all the time.  I keep the OPI protein treatment polish on them.  Like Mary, I keep bottles all over the place adn just put on a coat all the time.  This really helps my peeling thumb nails.

I rarely put color on my fingers b/c it always chips.

I try to keep my toes polished all the time, but that doesn't always happen.

  • My fingernails are never painted anymore. When I do them, they just get chipped and messed up in a few days from washing dishes and stuff. Luckily I have naturally strong healthy nails that grow like crazy, so sometimes I just buff them and they look fine.

My toenails are different. I don't leave the house in open toed shoes unless my toenails are painted.

  • Once in a while I paint my fingernails.  I love the look, but I get furious when they chip so I only bother if I have an event.  I keep my toes painted mostly in the warmer weather, but I don't think it's a requirement for open shoes.  Even when unpainted, I keep them neat looking.

  • I almost always paint my fingernails because mine are less likely to break/tear when they have nail polish on them...like wearing shoes to protect your feet. Also, as long as I get enough calcium, they are usually pretty strong. I have a TON of nail polish.

  • I hate the way my hands look with polish on them. They don't look like my hands. They look like they belong to someone else and that creeps me out.
