I'm not "promoting" this, as I don't know any more about it than what's on their site... But when I saw it mentioned in our campus e-newsletter, I thought some of you might be interested:
http://www.nwrc.iastate.edu/symposia/
"The 2011 Symposium is focused on research exploring factors that may play a role in the genesis of obesity including maternal, epigenetic and lifestyle factors, and understanding how they integrate to develop comprehensive and effective, intervention and prevention strategies for obesity and related chronic disease."
Check out the 'Program' tab on the site for a better idea of what will be discussed each day (breastfeeding, mother's nutrition, exercise, diet, gestational diabetes, parental influence, adult obesity, etc.).
Re: Symposium, May 9-11
Yep, I think it's an interesting topic. And, yes, I think our society probably has a lot of room for improvement related to health & obesity...
I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend any of it or not, but if you decide to go, let me know & maybe I'll be able to meet up with you.
Sounds great! I will let you know. I am going to try to pitch it to work, and see if it meets any of our demographics..... maybe free time off!
