anyone want to plan a menu?
R's 2nd birthday is coming up and I don't really want to do hamburgers and hotdogs like dh wants to do. Any ideas...
Here are some things I was throwing around not making them all but thoughts..
pulled pork in crock pot
drip beef
grilled chicken
sausage and peppers
sweet and sour keilbasa
sides:
potato salad
pasta salad or mac salad
chips/dips
fruit salad
Re: anyone want to plan a menu?
for the super bowl, we did Slow Cooker Pulled Pork (which i cooked overnight on friday for sunday, i had it in the rub for three days as well), Italian Drip Beef, and pigs in a blanket. we also did veggies, salsa, chips, etc...
Spiedies are great on the grill. i think i mentioned this to michele last week but if you can find salamida's spiedie sauce in your grocery store, it's great and easier than making it yourself (possibly cheaper too!). you can also order it online: http://www.spiedie.com/
i actually think your ideas are easier than hot dogs & burgers since you can do a lot more ahead of time and actually enjoy the party yourselves.
my husband always wants to do the hotdogs/hamburgers and doesn't mind being at the grill the whole day.
Those Spiedies sound good!
Thanks
if he wants to be at the grill then what about also doing Sweetwater's Drunken Ribeye (this is great with flank and other cuts of beef)
If you can get nice-looking corn on the cob, I love roasted (or grilled) corn. I cook it right in the husk, and it's so easy and yummy! Corn silks come right off easy peasy when cooked this way, too!

This was C's bday menu. Awesome and almost all of it can be done ahead of time. We also had cheese and crackers. My friend's husband made two different kinds of wings and my girlfriend made pico w/ chips.
