?? For those of you who drink alot of water

So I am trying to up my water intake, it is hard seeing as I HATE water!

So I have been drinking the flavored sparkling waters.  Well I LOVE them!  I have been drinking at least 2 liters a day of them.

HOWEVER - I have to pee SOO DAMN MUCH!  I am waking in the middle of the night to pee, have to run first thing in the am and at work so much more than ever.

Do you all pee this much if you drink alot of water? Is 2 liters even considered alot of water?  Or do I just have a really weak bladder?

Really I am concerned that this is waking me up at like 2am and 6am to pee! LOL!!!

Thanks!

  • Well it is recommended that you get 64 oz. a day, 2 liters = 66 oz., so it's not a lot in the grand scheme.  However, most people don't get the recommended amount.  I find when I do try and get my 64 I pee.all.day.  ALL.DAY!!!

  • You should stop drinking a while before you go to bed - hopefully then you won't have to pee so much!

  • I drink 3-4 liters of water a day.....Its a lot and I pee ALL DAY. Once I "break the seal" in the morning, I literally go every 20-30 minutes. I also get up at least once in the middle of the night to pee and go again when I wake up.

  • I normally drink a lot of water during the day (over 64 onces) and I do pee A LOT during the day.  However, I pee a lot during the day on the days that I don't driink all the water I want.

Umm ... as far as night waking to pee as someone else recommended don't drink around bed time.  Most of my water intake is between 0700 and 1700.  After 1700 I only usually have 1 or 2 glasses of water with dinner.

  • I drink at least that much water a day, and yes, I pee a lot, and yes, I wake up in the night, usually only once though.

  • When I'm good and drink all my water yep, I pee all the time. I try hard not to have much after about 6/7pm so that I don't have to get up at night but there's definitely no delaying the morning bathroom trip!

  • I pee all day too.  I try not to drink after dinner but I still wake in the middle of the night most nights.

Are you eating foods that are high in sodium? I am always more thirsty after a high-sodium meal.

Hmm...well I do use salt, but usually everything I cook is home made (rice, potatoes, pasta, salad) so nothing comes already salted.    We use seasoning on our meats (Goya Adobo).  BUt I would not say excessive.

I just really like to drink (water that is!) with a mix of wine too!

  • I remember reading an article that the 64 oz thing was just a recommendation and it does include water that are in foods you eat as well.

I tend to use the color of my urine more of a gauge on how much to drink verses going by ounces - it should be very very pale yellow - almost colorless.  If it's darker, you need more fluids.  If it's that light/colorless, then you are fine on water content and drinking any additional water will just make you pee more.

This. There is actually no science behind the 64 oz "rule". They don't even really know where the number came from. You get to count coffee, tea, juice, soups, & foods that have a high water content. So realistically if you are drinking too much water than your urine will be very clear and you will go more frequently. You need to find the happy medium for your body. Some bodies need more water some less. I am def. one of the ones that need less. I drink a Soda Stream bottle full of seltzer each day, a 16 ounce coffee and a 12 oz glass of milk. That's it.

me too...except i dont pay much attention to how much i drink anymore, its become habit for me.  i'll usually have 1/2 to one bottle in the am OR tons of milk in my cereal.  A bottle at lunch and one throughout the day, then one at dinner.  I literally only drink water or milk... well, we can't forget wine/vodka :)  Everything else just tastes too sweet to me.
