So, I'm thinking of entering a contest
Weather.com is doing a $15,000 backyard make over contest. Our backyard is AWFUL. The deck is falling apart and the yard is muddy, lumpy, and gross. Our yard totally looks WT. Does anyone have any tips on essay writing for these kinds of things? I know it's cheesy and probably unlikely, but I would be thrilled if we were able to win this. With baby on the way we're not able to put any money into our yard/deck this year and it is BAD. If I had a picture handy, I would post it, but I don't right now. I'll probably go home and take a picture of it while the weather is crappy. I think if it's dark and dreary out, it will really showcase just how ugly it really is
Re: So, I'm thinking of entering a contest
Maybe take the baby angle - a) you want a safe yard for the LO and b) a new backyard will be about creating new family memories. You have visions of your new little family spending time in the back yard, spending the summer evenings enjoying long summer nights.
Write down your list of reasons why you want this. Then use that as an outline for the essay.
And also, SELL your reasons! Make them see why you need-not want- this
This is a good idea. Good luck!!
