Easter

Any special plans for Easter? What do you normally do? Are you having a big meal?

Re: Easter

  • Brunch at Harper Station in-town. I avoid Church on Easter because of the crowds. Easter Brunch is a family tradition. I am sad I will not be in DC, however we were there last weekend for a wedding.

  • we are going to church on sunday and no clue what we will do after. this is the first easter our whole family won't go to church together and eat a big meal after.
  • We are going to the early service at church (8:30) to hopefully avoid some crowds. No plans for the rest of the day.

  • I'm spending the day just me and my mom.  I knew I couldn't muster up the strength to make dinner and entertain my ILs so H is going to their house and I'm going to my mom's.  I very much need some time with just me and my mommy!!  =)

  • we used to have a big family reunion on easter, but in the last few years we've moved it to a saturday, so this year we're going down to my grandmother's house in seale, al to grill hot dogs and hamburgers and hang out =)
  • I'm going to bake some cookies to bring over to my grandma's where we are having dinner.  We were invited to SIL's house where they get more into the holiday than my family does (in fact my grandma specifically celebrates Passover not Easter).  But DH doesn't want to drive to SC. I'm cool either way since I don't celebrate either holiday.
  • No big plans, just working on the bathroom to the point of maybe putting the toilet in.
  • No usual plans/meals, etc. This year we're going to the Renaissance Festival in hopes that it will be less crowded with all the religious folks occupied. I figure that's a safe bet in the South.
  • Melissa- it's kids weekend at the Ren Fest, so beware! ;)

We'll be going to church at our ususal time and then heading to Lawrenceville to have dinner with my sisters. I'm taking a pineapple upside-down cake and augratin potatoes with creme fraiche and gruyere, yummmmmm!

    OMG. Recipe please!

It will just be the two of us. Due to scheduling conflicts my parents weren't able to come visit like they thought, and BF's parents are too far away for us to go and come back in one day. So we will go to his church service, and possibly a Mass at my church depending on how motivated I am. My confirmation on Saturday night counts as Mass so I'm technically not obligated to go to one on Sunday. No clue what we'll do about food, I guess I'll cook something.

Yeah, I know it's kid's weekend. Thanks for the head's up though. We're just hoping that it being Easter Sunday will keep families at home or elsewhere. Besides, it's 1 kid/adult admission that's free, so not so bad. No free "truckloads" haha.  There are a few Easter activities, but they are in certain areas. Plus, we plan to get there when they open and leave in the early afternoon as the post-church crowds begin to arrive. It worked well timing it that way last year on Mother's Day. We just like to go earlier in the spring rather than later to avoid the heat. We'll give it a shot since the weather will be nice and if it sucks, we won't go back on Easter.

  • Our plans are not firm yet. We normally spend the morning with my fam and the afternoon with DH's. This year is complicated by the fact that I'm slammed with final papers right now and the fact that SIL didn't invite us over this year (strange). So we'll see!

    Early congrats on confirmation P&R!
