s/o - how much gadgetry do you have? Does your DH have?
I think we are Luddites compared to most of you.
I have a blackberry and DH has soem kind of Android phone
I have a Kindle
We have a shared desktop computer
I would sort of like a laptop or maybe a netbook, but I just can't justify that cost. I might get some kind of cheaper tablet PC.
Re: s/o - how much gadgetry do you have? Does your DH have?
I don't think we have that much honestly.
two laptops, we each have an iphone, I have a nook and an ipad.....that's it.
what other gadgets are out there that we need??
ETA: oh I wasn't thinking of most of the stuff people are naming as "gadgets." We have a Tom-tom, multiple ipods (I think 4 hanging around?), a PS3, Wii, all that kind of stuff. Is it bad if I don't consider all that "tech stuff"? I don't know why I don't.
H is pushing me for a Mac mini. We'll see.
Um, I desktop that we rarely use. 2 laptops and a 1 work laptop. 2 Droid phones and a flip & an ipod(but the last two are old technology).
ETA: Kathryn - some laptops (depending on where you buy them) cost the same as a tablet PC depending on what you get
We have a desktop computer, I have a BB Curve (that is 2 years old, still has the track ball), DH has a BB Curve II (newer) for work phone, an old phone for personal #, I got a Nook for my 30th bday in Nov '10, and we just bought an IPad about a month ago. DH works for a cell phone company and was able to buy the IPad for $250. I have never even owned an ipod.
ETA: I have a point and shoot camera, DH has one too that he got from his Dad after he passed and we have a Nikon D60. We also have a PS3 and a Wii.
Wasn't sure what all you meant and wanted to include in 'gadgetry'
We both have Blackberries (which we hate - we're getting rid of them when our contract is up in May).
We have five computers, but we're selling one. DH is a computer nerd (although of those five, three are mine, hmm).
We don't have anything else. We don't read enough to justify Kindles/Nooks and no iPad either. DH is against wireless so I'm not sure how much use we'd be able to get out of an iPad anyway.
Oh we have game consoles, not sure if that counts. PS3 and Wii. And iPods. We have a Flip that we never use and we have 2 regular digital cameras.ETA: We also have 2 printers (one laser, one copy/scan/fax/all-in-one) and a GPS. And DH keeps saying we're getting a video camera but we'll see. Oh and also an iHome.

Too many!! We have a desktop for when I work from home and my Mac laptop. DH also has a laptop for school/work. And I have a laptop from work. So that's four computers that still get regular use. Then we have two printers - a laser, again for me for telecommuting, and a Canon inkjet all in one. Also an uber-scanner for my telecommuting days. We both have blackberries. Since my bb phone is covered by work it didn't make sense to get an iPhone...so I got an iTouch. And then I got DH an iTouch because he kept stealing mine to play certain games. He also has an older nano that he uses more for music and workouts.
And we have a Kindle. And a Wii (more for me). And an xBox (more for DH). I'm sure I'm forgetting something. I'm a bit of a technology hor.
ETA: A couple of point and shoots, a flip and a DSLR. But NO IPAD!! I think that cancels out everything else and makes me reasonable.
EATA: And two Garmins.
I keep reading other replies and remembering stuff...

We each have a laptop and we have a netbook that we share for trips. We got rid of our old desktops. Our phones both are 2.5 years old and aren't smartphones so no data plans yet. I have an ipod classic.
I don't have a desire for a reader, but I really want a new phone, just not sure which one I want from Verizon yet.
Hmm, what else. We have a new Garmin GPS, Samsung blu ray, Wii, and most importantly the tv that DH really wanted.
I will say that we get a lot of use out of our printer/scanner/copier/fax. It's nice to have all of that at home when we need it.
ETA - Since I read about cameras. I've been thinking about wanting a DSLR in the future. We have a year old camera that I love and I don't think that I would want to carry the DSLR around all the time, but it would be nice for some better pictures.
We have a desktop with a monstrous monitor, and XBox hooked up to it, and two printers. I have no idea what the details of the printers are. I stay out of the office. The sheer number of wires gives me hives. I HATE electronic spaghetti.
DH has a laptop. I have a laptop (that's broken). DH occasionally brings home a MAC to work on, I occasionally bring home a laptop to work on. We each have an iPhone - mine is 3G2, his is a 4. DD has an iTouch. I have an iPod. DD has an e-reader and a Leapster handheld video game. She'll likely get a Nintendo DS in a year or two.
I have a point-and-shoot camera. I'm getting a Wii at Christmastime and want an iPad when they come down in a price a bit. I want to upgrade to the iPhone 5 as soon as I'm eligible (which won't be until late fall, BOO).
We're techno-whores. DH is a software designers and I'm a gadget lover. It's crazy.
We have:
too many.... but I'm a computer/tech geek.
-2 iphones and a blackberry
-2 work laptops, home laptop, macbook air and a desktop
-kindle
-ipod - connected to home receiver that is wired to house and garage
-DSLR & point and shoot
-all in one wireless/internet printer
-ipad
-docking stations around the house for laptops to watch on the TV
-mini-travel scanner for work
-lots of computer components (external cd roms, external harddrives, etc)
-radio/CD homelink thing that plays in every room of our house
-alarm with cameras that sync to our TV
-xbox & wii
I'm sure I'm forgetting things...

We both have cellphones, iPods (I have the touch), and a shared desktop computer. Are we counting things like the Wii? If so, we have a PS2 that H got in exchange for a pizza (seriously), the Wii and a Blu-Ray player.
H is planning to upgrade to the iPhone.
ETA: We have a "ghetto iHome" (same idea just not from apple), and a camera that desperately needs to be replaced.
5 cats. 1 baby.
I feel ancient!
-2 cell phones, neither is a smartphone
-2 laptops (1 old, 1 newer)
-2 mp3 players, neither is an ipod
-Wii
-a point & shoot, and a camcorder
-3D TV and blu ray player
H wants to get a tablet soon, and I'll probably get an ereader between now and Christmas. But that's it! We don't even have a printer. Our only fancy, newer technology item is the TV, we just bought that for Christmas. It's pretty neat, I have to admit, much better than 3D movies in theaters.
My "gadgets" = Droid, iMac, Canon T2i, HD video camera, and Prius (DH swears it's a techie thing)
DH "gadgets" = PS3, Wii, PS2
DH is NOT a techie person, he doesn't even have a smart phone. Yet, he has zero problems taking my phone to check his fantasy sports stuff or play Angry Birds during a road trip.
We probably win the award. Neither of us has smartphones and we don't want them. We have a desktop computer (but each have a work laptop we bring home quite a bit). When the desktop dies we will probably replace it with a laptop.
We don't have any IPads, kindles, video game systems, GPS, anything like that. I would rather just go to the library and check out a book, and we aren't the type to sit around and play video games.
I wouldn't necessarily say we are anti-technology but I just don't feel like we need it. I think a lot of these gadgets can be seriously draining to your finances, if you are always feeling like you need the newest thing and all its accessories and upgrades, which is something i have seen a lot of my friends fall into.
I feel better - you have less than me!!
I'm not really anti-tech either. Its just not a part of my life and it all seems to get more confusing and need more stuff not less.
I agree, and this is why we boycott Apple, lol. They charge so much $ for a new i-whatever, but then 6 months later there's a new version with some new feature that you just have to have! I think that we would fall into that trap, so we just avoid it altogether and save the $ for vacations instead
I think we're fairly on par with everyone else... I have an iPhone4, DH has 3GS. I have a 13" macbook pro, DH has a 15". I have a Nook, he has an iPad2. We have a whole array of iPods, shuffles etc that never get touched, an Apple tv (and wireless router), 2 Tom Toms (for one car, haha)
That's the main stuff, besides DH's work camera that lives at our house. Oh it's just a 60 megapixel medium format digital back.
