Since it's slow..

Do the restaurants in your area have a smoking section?

All bars and restaurants are non-smoking in my town. I noticed that the places down in Georgia and Florida still offer smoking sections so I am just currious about other places too. (For the record I don't smoke, so I don't care if they have a smoking section or not)

  • Colorado was one of the first states to go completely non smoking in bars and restaurants.

I HATE going back to STL to places that still have smoking sections.  Gross.  Although certain counties are FINALLY starting to pass the smoking bans.

A smoking section in a bar or restaurant is like a peeing section in a pool.

  • MA is smoke-free.

Sidenote - I was watching The Lovely Bones last night and there is a scene where the grandmother is smoking in the mall. My mom and I commented on how weird that looked to us since we haven't seen smoking in public buildings for AGES.

New York is smoke free too and I agree, it really bothers me when I go to places that allow smoking. Gross!

I couldn't remember if it was the entire state or just individual counties.

I also remember when I was little going shopping with my mom and she would smoke right in the store with me. Also, at my office building people would smoke right at their desks. (My friend's mom still works here and brought us in to watch the newspapers being made when we were kids. Everyone smoked around here!)

  • We've been smoke-free since 2003. I remember, because I was waiting tables at the time and we were so excited we didn't have to have a smoking section anymore. People will blow smoke right in your face like it is nothing! I use to cough in their faces on purpose.

  • Here it's just counties. Our county and the one net to us have been smoke-free since 2008. But, if you go down South to Little Rock and surrounding areas, they still have smoking sections there.

Ohio is smoke free however, KY is not. We are on the border so most places are smoke free but a few are not. It throws me off when we go somewhere that actually still has smoking.

  • Omaha and Lincoln, NE are smoke free in all restaurants, bars and most other establishments, but I don't know if the rest of the state is.

And Yes to Nooner's quote comparing restaurants and pools.  So true.

  • NY has been smoke free for a long time. They don't even allow it outdoors at like zoo's or in front of restaurants etc for some places.

I always forget places allow smoking in different states and I hate it when I smell like an ashtray after.

Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

  • NY just banned all smoking in public parks also

  • Not sure if PA is counties or the whole state, but Pittsburgh and the surrounding counties are smoke-free.

The only way you can smoke in a public place is if they bring in a certain percentage of their profit in cooked food. For example, you can't smoke at and Applebees (even though it has a bar), but a local VFW or American Legion don't fall under the smoke ban because they don't sell as much cooked food; most of their income is alcohol only.

I'm sorry but there is NOTHING more disgusting than having to smell smoke while i'm eating.

Try waking up to it as the smoke wafts into your bedroom window from the neighbor's balcony below and next door.

Cig smoke is pretty much the bane of my existence. I am counting the days to when we move in Sept. And watch us end up with neighbors there (wherever there is) who smoke too.
