Never fails...have a new job, got called for an interview

I just started working at a furniture store a couple months ago. I studied interior design so it's a fun position for me, I like my coworkers, and it's a non-profit with a mission I support.

Well, like it always goes, I got an email today asking me for a phone interview for a job I applied for a couple months ago that would be nothing short of the best job in the world. This job is a telecommuting position, would most certainly pay more, and would be fun to boot (it involves event coordinating basically).

AAAANNNDD on top of all that, I'm pregnant, due in September, which makes any and all job situations a bit touchy.

Sooooooo....whatdoIdo?????? Do the phone interview and see what happens from there? Should I tell them I'm pregnant? If so, now or later in the interview process (if it goes that far)? Is it horrible to quit my other job this early in the game, even though it's only retail? Ugh. I hate when this happens.

  • Definitely do the interview.  I would never mention I was pregnant now; it doesn't affect your capability to do the job. If it is a better fit for you and your family, you shouldn't have an issue leaving the other job.  This happens all the time.  Do what is best for you, your family and future.  Good luck!

this! I couldn't have said it any better.

  • Do the interview. Like PP said, don't mention that you're pregnant. It's not relevant right now.

  • Totally agree w/ PPs.  Definitely take the phone interview and don't mention being pregnant.  I would not let a retail job stand in the way of going for a 'dream job'.

     Good Luck!

  • Thanks guys...this was my initial thought as well, I guess I just needed to know I wasn't crazy!
