has anyone had allergies while pregnant?

Is there anything that you can take?  I woke today and mine have arrived. My allergies usually kick in during the last week of april/1st week of may. It's Horrible. I'm assuming there is nothing that I am able to take.

Re: has anyone had allergies while pregnant?

  • I broke out in hives, and was told that I could take Benadryl for the itching. I'd give your OB's office a call and see what is OK.

  • Benedryl is fine to take while pregnant, but I would def. call your ob to double check or see if there is anything they recommend

  • Never been pregnant, but I do know that Rhinocort nasal spray is a category B, so that should be OK - you'd need a prescription though. Works like a charm.

Saline nasal spray or a neti pot might help a little too.

  • I was given the ok to take Zrytec while pregnant.  I took it at night and it helped me sleep too.  Good luck!!

  • With the all clear from my OB and midwife, I used my inhalers, saline nasal spray and took Claritin as needed. Good luck!

  • Allergy meds are definitely safe.
  • The approved list from my OB included zyrtec and claritin, benadryl, and some prescription nasal sprays although I avoided those and just stuck with my zyrtec. I have to take it year round for my allergies.

  • My OB also said claritin, zyrtec and benadryl are okay, but just regular claritin, not claritin-D.  My 3 allergy prescriptions are not.  Sadly, Claritin and Zyrtec are useless for my regular seasonal allergies (though they both help a lot when I'm around cats), so I'm just suffering through.  Benadryl knocks me out, so I take that sometimes when my blocked sinuses are keeping me up at night.  Good luck!
  • all of the above and also my OB approved Sudafed (lowest dosage)

Good luck!  it's awful having allergies and not being able to take everything you need!!
