I was inspired by you ladies
to make the Pioneer Woman's dinner rolls for tomorrow's dinner with the ILs. It's a step up from my normal Pillsbury crescent rolls and I'm feeling all proud of myself. I just put the rolls into the oven and I realized that I forgot to add the salt. FML.
Re: I was inspired by you ladies
Ahh well!
they will be delicious
at least no one sat on your rolls while they were rising.
My dad did that one holiday that my mom actually baked rolls. She had them on a low stool over the heating vent in the kitchen with a towel over them. Dad thought it was just a pan with a towel over it. No middle rolls turned out.
ehh, there is only a little salt in them. I don't think it will make a difference. Put a good dollup of salted butter on them and they will be great
I ended up baking them tonight too so my lazy butt doesn't have to worry about it tomorrow morning lol Oh and I did make a 1/2 batch, but I had too much dough and made 12 mini rolls in my mini tin.
That was my first thought, except I never buy salted butter! I only have unsalted in the house. Maybe I'll send DH by the Irving tomorrow to see if they have any salted butter, since all the grocery stores are closed.
I tasted the rolls and they are a little bland. At least I didn't forget the baking powder or soda. (Or have someone sit on them!) That would have been worse.
Make cinnamon butter! Use the unsalted butter, whip it up with a little salt and cinnamon. That would be tasty.
I was thinking the salt played more of a role in the leavening. Not so much taste. And with such a little amount, I'm sure you're fine. Good on ya for making rolls from scratch-- I am sure your guests will appreciate the effort!
(And remind me to tell you of the time I forgot to add the yeast to a bread recipe! Duh!)
Genius! I made salty cinnamon butter and it tasted great. Thank you so much!
