HELP!!! What's wrong with my blueberry bushes??

I have 8 blueberry bushes. 2 of them have no flowers or developing fruit. One of them looks like there was flowers, but they have dried up and fallen off. The ends of the stems just look black. These plants have been in the ground 3 years and I have never had any problems with them. I was looking forward to getting a pretty good crop this year, but if this is some kind of disease, I want to find out. I live in the foothills of NC. At first I thought maybe frost damage, but none of the others have it. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Re: HELP!!! What's wrong with my blueberry bushes??

  • I know one thing about blueberry bushes - they need acidic soil. Maybe test the soil and amend if necessary and see if that helps?
  • Blueberry bushes only tend to have a good crop 1 year out of three.   It could be the different stages of dormancy.   If you are near an Agricultural college, check to see if they have a community outreach program.  This is a good source for free advice.
