washing walls, what do you use?

I'd like to do some spring cleaning/nesting and wash the walls in my house.  I don't just want to dust them because somehow there are some places that look like there are sticky drips which I have no idea what it is.  What can I use that won't strip the paint?  Any tips on reaching high besides a latter which I will not be using.  Any kind of rod thing that a cleaning sponge can attach to that I could use?

Re: washing walls, what do you use?

  • I tried water on an old towel and when that didn't work on some spots I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.  No tips on the high spots, I used a ladder.
  • Water and all purpose cleaner, like Spic and Span or Mr. Clean. Terry cloth rag.If you dont want to use a ladder, try a sponge mop. Wring it out as much as you can, and keep the rag handy, because it will drip down onto the part of the wall that you just washed. There is really no easy way to wash walls, and trust me, Ive been doing it long enough to know. Soap, water and elbow grease is the only thing that gets them clean.
  • Just plain old warm water and a few good rags here, but can I just say, the walls looked amazing! when I was done?!  Enjoy!
