Gift Basket Ideas

People at work and myself are going to do a gift basket for my friend instead of sending flowers, or food, we just thought this would be better since I'm sure she'll be getting a ton of flowers, and have lots of food. Plus after family/friends go home, she'll need something to distract her.

Any ideas?

What would you want in a GB? I was sort of thinking a g/c for a certain resturant or a Visa card plus some other fun stuff for her daughter.

TIA!!

Re: Gift Basket Ideas

  • Maybe a gift card for a nursery so that she could have a tree planted in remembrance? Something fun to do with their child? (build a bear, zoo pass, monkey joe's, Mc D's etc.) I know a lot of people will do things for her but sometimes the kiddos get kind of left out.

  • Ditto what Mrs Reem said.  I was also thinking about GC to different places to eat, it's still along the lines of food but might come in handy on those days that A just isn't feeling it and doesn't want to cook for her or C.  My heart just broke when I read that on Friday.
  • You could also try posting this on the Military Nesties board for ideas!

  • I don't know if this fits with the dollar amount or "theme" of the basket, but I was thinking this weekend that a gift certificate for a cleaning service would be an awesome Mother's Day gift -- and I would guess that it could be a really helpful gift for your friend, too (whether now or sometime in the future).

Other thoughts: movie outing package for her & her daughter (movie tickets, kid-friendly restaurant); a journal; thoughtful book related to loss & healing; today's Groupon for The Body Shop; at-home mani/pedi stuff...

  • I like the idea of movies to watch, what about a digital photo frame?  They could put together rememberance collages.  Maybe a bottle of her favorite wine?
