mom advice re: shower

So even though I'm not due til October, the scheduling of a baby shower has begun because people are so crazy busy.

If it were you, which date would be better, considering we are due Oct 27th:

August 27th

September 10th

MIL is hoping for Sept - that is the ONLY weekend DH is in town for that whole month, he has a lot of travel for work that he is squeezing in before October.

Thoughts?

Since I had both my showers with in a week of each other (one at 36.5 and the other at 37.5 weeks) I think you would be safe with the September date. You might be a little more uncomfortable sitting down for long periods of time but just get up and walk around or open gifts standing up (I had to stand for the last little bit)

I hear ya with busy schedules! We just got mine set!

I think you could go with with either date so long as it works for you ... if you are not wanting to do the September date as that is the only weekend you'll really have with DH in September, I think that's understandable!

I think the Sept date is okay, but that would be the latest I'd want it held since you'd be approximately 6 weeks from your due date and you never know if LO decides to come early. I had my shower at around 35 or 36 weeks and I was stressing big time that everything wouldn't be done in time and I wanted to just go out and buy everything before the shower to ease my mind. Not to mention I was incredibly uncomfortable and exhausted for the shower.

I think I'd rather the August date. It just gives you more time to go through everything and make returns or get anything you didn't get.

That was part of my thinking too....also gives me more time to get everything set up, etc since DH is gone most of September and that way we don't have like three weeks in October...plus, what if baby comes early??? yikes.

I'd go with the August date.

I had my big shower at 32 weeks, and that was perfect for me. It gave us a chance to get things organized, make returns and buy anything we didn't get at the shower. It also allowed for us to relax in the last few weeks before B was born.

The fact the Sept date is the only weekend Ken will be home gives another good reason to have it in August Smile

Well, my mom is semi-horrified our shower will be in June (b/c that is when C's mom will be passing through) because she thinks it is too early. I think either is OK since you'd be 32 and 34ish weeks.

I would say August. That way you have more time to get any last minute things if needed

Also, you never know IF you will be on bed rest (I am not saying you will) towards the end of your pregnancy.
