My cousin and his wife were married on Prudence, on our anniversary, just last May. They're expecting a little girl in the next few weeks. Both of them are recovered addicts. My cousin's wife has had the toughest life. She was raised around all sorts of sketchy stuff, her parents are both addicts (her Mom's an alcoholic and her Dad's a coke addict). The poor girl has seen a lot of friends OD and die. She's had it very tough, but managed to turn her life completely around. She met my cousin in rehab and they're now several years sober starting a new life. She's an absolutely remarkable person.
She got a call last night that her father passed away. The circumstances are sketchy, but as you can well imagine, the thought is that there were drugs involved. To make matters worse, all the burden is being put on her and her sister to take care of all arrangements and his personal items. Her sister lives in AZ.
Her father was an identical twin and she's already having a hard time being around her uncle. How eerie that must be?
Not only am I devastated for her, but it's bringing back a lot of my emotions from when my Mom passed. I was pregnant with Tristan. It adds another whole level of grief to the whole thing.
So if you could please keep Joyce and Tim in your prayers I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm sure they could use all the good vibes they can get right now. Thanks!

Thanks everyone! They really are an inspiration. I see all these Intervention programs where the addict never gets better and it makes me sick to think either one of them could have gone down that road. They are so proud of their sobriety. She has a full back tattoo of a cross and the date she went sober. She had it photographed for her wedding even! HAHA! She's just an absolute doll who's tried so hard to turn her life around. I sincerely hope this doesn't set her back. My cousin had a relapse after my Mom died but thankfully it didn't last long. I know she's got that beautiful little girl to keep her grounded though, and my cousin. She finally has an amazing support system too. UGH! My heart is breaking for them.
