36 1/2 weeks, ankles are horribly sore but not swollen?

Anyone have any idea if this is a side effect of pregnancy?  My ankles are horribly sore (to the point that I laid awake half the night bc they hurt so bad) but they're not swollen at all.  I'm a bit confused and don't even want to get off the couch (which isn't such a bad thing bc I'm really not supposed to be doing much bc I'm dialated to 4 and she doesn't want me delivering until at least 37 weeks), but ouch do they ever hurt.  Thoughts or suggestions on what to do to make this easier?

  • No idea, I am in the same boat. My ankles, feet and knees hurt. They seem to hurt the worst after I've been laying down for a while like at night when I am vegging out watching TV or in the morning.

So...no suggestions. :( Hang in there! You are getting so close!

  • Thanks Cygal.  I was telling my husband I think it may just be the worst pre-labor pain that I've endured with this kid and my last, and I surely hope it doesn't hang around until I deliver.  Congrats on your little one, hopefully our feet will be back to normal so we can run around and chase our little guys outside here shortly :)
  • Your joints hurt because they are much more lax now. And you're carrying more weight than you're used to. It's also common to have restless legs when you're pregnant. This is random, but I only had one restless leg when I was pregnant with Grier. It was so weird.
