Going out of state w/o kids ??

So DH and I are going to Louisiana next month, the girls are staying in RI with my ILs.  Do I need to have/leave any paperwork for them?

Any other suggestions as to what documents I need would be helpful!

Re: Going out of state w/o kids ??

  • Draft a letter signed by you giving your ILs permission to make medical decisions / medical care for them. That's about all you really need. My SIL always kept the letter in the first aid bag she had with another sheet with their medicine doses, etc. Great idea and she just used a small bag/lunch bag to keep it all in.

  • We were just out of the country w/o M, she stayed with my inlaws.  We have a form on file with the Pediatrician that states who has permission to ok medical procedure n our absence.  We also wrote a letter that stated we were giving IL's permission to Consent for Medical Treatment during the specific dates we were away, in that letter I listed Maggie's primary dr. info, insurance info (including primary policy holder dob, etc), put our contact #s on there and put that in an envelope w/ her insurance card so in case of an emergency they could just grab that envelope and go.
