Headache remedies??

Man, I have been getting the worse headaches lately and two tylenol every 4-6 hours does NOTHING for me.....I had half a bottle of soda this morning in hopes of the caffiene would help and it seems to be helping a little but it's still there....Any remedies out there that are safe while pregnant?

  • I took Excedrin - dr. said it was OK.  Hope you feel better soon! :)

Oh I'm so sorry; Tylenol never does anything for me either when I have headaches!  I've got not advice since I would have told you to try the caffeine route, which you already did.  I hope you feel better soon.
  • In addition to meds, I put a heating pad on my head when my headaches are really bad.

  • ask your dr about fioricet. it works great for headaches.

  • It depends on what kind of headache it is.  Ice pack behind your neck is great for a tension headache.  Make sure you're drinking plenty of liquid (caffeine will dehydrate you).  Some fresh air and light stretches for your neck and shoulder may help.  Also, there are some pressure points on your hands and feet, and also on your head that will alleviate headaches (there are lots of videos on you tube).  And when all else fails, my very last resort was excedrin.
  • Could they be sinus headaches? I had them pretty bad when I was in late 1st/early 2nd tri and using the neti pot really helped.  Good luck!

  • thanks for the suggestions....I can't use Exedrine, its too much caffiene for my heart (I have mitral valve prolapse) and can't have too much caffiene....A little soda is all my little heart can take. I'll try the neti pot but I don't think its sinus related only because I have no other sinus symptoms, just a headache. I'll try a heating pador ice pack tonight.

  • I can't take excedrine b/c I'm allergic. When my headaches were really, really bad during pg, my drs gave me vicodin.

sadly, the list of drugs I can take (pg or not) is very, very small =/

  • I don't know if you have called your dr by now, but I have headaches all the time and when I got PG they actually got so much better.  I think all the water I was drinking was one of the reasons.  Just something I thought to pass on... make sure to drink a lot of anything actually.  I never ate so healthy or kept hydrated so much as when I was PG.  I hope you have had soem relief by now...
