Re: Niner Babies: Check-In

  • Baby's Name:  Samma

Age:  7 months (31 weeks today!)

Weight / Height:  I'm thinking 26" long and at least 16lbs at this point... Chris is bringing her to the pediatrician today, so we'll see how close I am!

ETA:  16lbs 4oz as of this morning!

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids:  Today is the first official day of no breastfeeding.  I had brought it all down to 1 feeding in the morning, but since we went 2 days in a row where I wasn't able to feed her, my supply has more or less diminished.  *lesigh*  So now it's about 30oz of formula, hald a container of fruits with rice cereal in the moring, and half a container of veggies at night.

Recent Developments:  Sami has been getting up on her hands and knees and rocking back and forth, so I know crawling is coming soon!  Sometimes she'll even put enough weight into it so that she's in a Downward Dog position... it's actually pretty amusing.

Questions for the Mamas:  We have a diaper rash that just won't go away -- what are your rememdies?

Advice for the Mamas:  None this week... but I'll be happy to take any offered.

It's been a little bit since the last one, so let's see how everyone is doing!

    Baby's Name: Nathan

Age: (months and/or weeks, however you're measuring it at this point) 4 weeks, 1 day. He'll be 1 month on Wed.

Weight / Height: I don't know exactly. About 2 weeks ago he was 9.15 and 22.5 inches so I'm guessing he's well over 10 onto 11 pounds. Maybe a half to a whole inch longer.

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids: He gets both formula and breast milk. He eats like a horse.

Recent Developments:  (AW your baby's progess here!) He is starting to really focus on stuff. He's always had a strong neck and now his upper body is gaining a lot of strength. He holds himself up during tummy time for quite a while.

Questions for the Mamas: Did you wait until your 6 wk pp check to start exercising? I go back to dance tonight and wonder if I should still keep it low key or if I can start doing my stretch and strength routines.

Advice for the Mamas: I don't think I'm qualified enough to give advice yet.

Anything else you wanna talk about: Another question; how long did it take for your hips to go back down?

PIP - Most Recent Picture: I'm on my phone and can't pip. Most recent pic is on fb from Easter.

  • Try the triple paste. It's a tad pricey but if you save it for just the really bad rashes it won't be as bad cost wise.

  • Baby's Name: Teaghan

Age: (months and/or weeks, however you're measuring it at this point)

    1 month and 2 days

    Weight / Height: 9lbs 3oz and 21 inches

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids: Formula

Recent Developments:  (AW your baby's progess here!) She is holding her head up really well on her own and it starting to stare and focus in more at the toys on her seat and bouncer.

Questions for the Mamas: When did your baby first sleep through the night?

Advice for the Mamas: Sorry, still new at this

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids: Formula and solids, although we will be switching to whole milk next week! Woot!

Recent Developments:  Ellie can walk 2-3 steps unsupported, she can stand for minutes at a time. She has started saying "Some", "mine", and "no".

Questions for the Mamas: None at the moment.

  • MB, my doctor recommended to us to just use baby powder and nothing else. He said with the moisture that little girls get down there, sometimes powder is the best thing to pull the moisture out of the rash and dry it out.
  • Baby's Name: Phoenix

    Age:  7 months 5 days

Weight / Height: Probably somewhere around 17lbs and about 27-28in

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids: Breast and Solids

Recent Developments: She's a crawler! Took her first real crawl forward last Wednesday and has spent all weekend practicing. She's practically a pro now, lol. Also, finally got two teeth in!

Questions for the Mamas: What keeps your LO entertained the longest? We have toys, everywhere, but nothing really holds her attention for very long, which causes her to get really...whiny.

Advice for the Mamas: none right now

Anything else you wanna talk about: i got nothing

  • Baby's Name:  Alex

    Age:  2 months old today!

Weight / Height:  At his 2 month appointment on Friday he was 8lbs 6oz and 21" long.

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids:  We've been successfully exclusively breastfeeding for the past month!

Recent Developments:  Alex now smiles in response to silly faces I make, our voices, some new rattles that I bought him for Easter.  He can hold his head up for a while now and needs to be looking around to take everything in.   He had his first round of shots on Friday and thankfully didn't have any reactions, no fever, nothing.  Yay!  He also mimics me now when I make faces, it's so much fun!  I'm loving watching him discover new things.

Questions for the Mamas:  For those who breastfed and had to go back to work, how did you go about preparing your body to pump during the day at work?  If I pumped every time Alex fed during the day right now I'd be chained to the pump.  I've been planning to read up on this but haven't had the time to sit down and do it yet.

Advice for the Mamas:  None at the moment that I can think of.

    Anything else:

I'm starting to get really bad anxiety about going back to work in a month, May 23rd is my first day back.  I don't want to.  I want to quit so badly, but it's not an option.  I get anxious when someone else is holding Alex for longer than like 15 minutes, not because they're not doing well or I'm nervous about them holding him, just because he's not close enough to me I guess.  I let everyone else hold him nearly all day yesterday to try to break myself of this but it didn't get easier I still wanted him all to myself!!

Okay, enough of that, here's some cuteness:

    Baby's Name:Weston

    Age: 9 months 3 weeks

Weight / Height: 23 lbs (lost 6 oz when had a stomach bug), like 29 inches

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids: Formula and solids. His doctor gave the okay for pretty much all table food at 9 month appointment.

Recent Developments: He loves saying "mama" and "dada".  He pulls up on EVERYTHING and walks along everything like it's a piece of cake.  When you say dancing baby, he starts to dance.

Questions for the Mamas: None today

Advice for the Mamas: None today

From what my husband remembers (*shuns*) the pediatrician told us that the best thing we can do right now is let her air out, so when she's having her bottle, just undo her diaper and let it all hang out.  No more wipes either - paper towels and water only.  And Desitin.  So we'll see how it looks after a week.

  • Yay! My first check-in!!!

    Baby's Name: Evie

    Age: 1 week, 3 days

Weight / Height: as of last Weds, 6lbs, 6oz and 21 1/2"... I realized after I read the previous posts, I have a tall baby!

Breastfeeding / Formula / Solids: Almost exclusively breastfeeding.  As long as she's gained sufficient amount of weight on Weds at 2 week check up, it'll be breast milk only.  I'm definitely making enough.

Recent Developments:  She's much more alert.

Questions for the Mamas: When did you start doing "tummy time" and for how long?  What did you do with your LO?

Advice for the Mamas: I'm still a noob, so no advice from me.

  • JW - we used Similac Sensitive (the spit-up kind - it's thicker than the normal stuff) for El. We used the ready-to-feed kind because she wouldn't drink the powder after she quit BFing.

Nat - I didn't start tummy time until maybe 3-4 weeks, when she had more control of her head. I would put a rattle or a plastic mirror on the floor so she would have something to look at. I would get down there with her and shake the rattle, show her herself in the mirror, etc. As she got older, we would incorporate more toys, sing songs, etc.
