...anyone have any experience with them, or heard anything about them?
I was on the website the other day looking at their storage & art selections when I saw some cabinet pics. We do need our kitchen remodeled...probably not in the near furture, but just curious if they are even worth looking into. Never heard anything about Ikea cabinets...
Re: Ikea Kitchen Cabinets...
No personal experience, but I saw this posted on D&R yesterday:
http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/52397710.aspx
No experience with the cabinets but it seems anything big I have ever bought from Ikea has been crap and has fell apart... entertainment system, dresser & toy box.
eta: entertainment center not system
Thanks Andra!
Like she said, we used IKEA Cabinets, etc. and redid our kitchen all by ourselves. They were pretty easy to construct and install. We went with the Lidingo (white) style and are happy with it. As soon as my kitchen doesn't look like a tornado went through it, I'll take a few pics and send them to you. To get an idea of the cost, we have a galley style kitchen (with two long runs of cabinets about 10' long) and the cost for upper and lower cabinets, butcherblock countertops, faucet, and hardware was about $2500 for that style. I know they've dropped prices even more since 2009 when we bought them.
I have a degree in interior design, so I designed my own layout, but if you're not comfortable you could also use their design services at the store. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Wow! Thanks! $2500 is very reasonable! I would love to see pictures when you get a moment. We alway heard that kitchen remodels cost at least $10k, so this is a future project. However, if we could do it for much less without lowering the quality that would be awesome! I haven't done much research yet, so I'm excited to look into ikea more...
We were really happy with the way they turned out. I have some "progress" pictures as well so you can see a few different points during the install. For the price, the quality is pretty good. Granted, they aren't a solid cabinet door and are more of a laminate finish, but for the price we are very happy.
