Less than a week until the Broad Street Run...

How is everyone feeling about the races?  Excited? Nervous? Feeling prepared?

This is my first time running Broad Street.  I am definitely more excited than nervous, but at the same time just want to get it over with.   The weather forecast is calling for rain.  I guess rain would be better than hot and humid.

Re: Less than a week until the Broad Street Run...

  • I am very excited and looking forward to BSR on Sunday. I would welcome rain (it keeps "bandits" from showing up).I don't think anything could replicate last year's horrible high temperatures.

I did a 15K race over the weekend, so my legs are ready.  I might go for another run with the husband tonight. Otherwise, this week is going to be a few short runs and REST Friday and Saturday (maybe a yoga class on Saturday).

  • Good luck ladies.  I did it for the first time 3 years ago and had so much fun.  I am thinking next year I may try it again.

  • i'm running and very ok with walking what i have to walk. we are having a post run party that i may be more excited for :)

tianna - what cross st will you be at? i'll wave!

to get to finish line, take the broad street line and get off at pattison and walk about .6 miles to finish line - or take a cab but go up side streets - you cant drive on broad.

be warned too that there are 30k runners, plus friends and family, so the finish line will be mobbed!

  • I am excited and nervous!  I haven't been able to run in 3 weeks due to a stress fracture in my foot and IT band issues in my hip, so I've been going to spin classes to keep up my cardio base.  I am cleared to run, but I am mentally prepared to have to walk portions of it if my foot/hip acts up.  My farthest run is 10K, so hopefully I will be able to at least run that much, if not more.  I am very pumped to get a medal!

  • Good luck to all the runners!  I'll be doing the MS Walk on Sunday, but am working the BSR Expo at the Linc on Friday morning- so stop by the Philly Parks & Rec booth if you're there between 7:30-11:30am!  I'm not sure of my exact assignment yet but it will probably involve some sort of handing out materials- race packets or shirts or something.
