exciting plans for summer?
Now that spring break is practically over, I am looking forward to summer. Anyone have any fun or exciting plans coming up?
Re: exciting plans for summer?
We're hoping to get that sorted out tonight. My father wants to take some of the furniture from my GM's house (she passed away in Jan) to my parents' house in FL. DH has offered for us to drive it down there. I am not at all thrilled at the prospect of driving to FL in a U-Haul, but DH is all excited about it so if it works out, I guess we'll be doing that at the end of June during the two weeks he's off.
I'm hoping to use the gift card to Bedford Springs that my friends got us for our weddding to go on an anniversary trip in July.
For August we're trying to figure out the combination of my family's beach vacation (DH may not be able to go again, but doesn't care if I do), softball tournaments (which I tell him to go and have fun at in exchange for my beach vacation) and my family reunion, which is in D.C. this year (DH has never been).
Other than that - family and friend stuff. One of our nieces graduates from HS this year, and her grad party is in mid-July. Plus my college roommates and I have been trying to find a time for a girls weekend.
Resting and relaxing some of the time and getting refreshed for next school year. Also, getting some things done on my to do list I don't have time to do during the school year.
Hopefully we are also going to have a housewarming party and go on a Caribbean vacation. Also, my/our annual family vacation to the lake!!!
Summer is our time!
Concerts: Zac Brown Band/Kenny Chesney with pretty much my entire extended family of parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmother... like 20 people. It will be epic. Also Lynard Skinnard, Brad Paisley [in September], and hopefully Jimmy Buffett. There's a conflict with our big vacation and the venue we normally go to, so hopefully we can get our group to agree on another show date/venue...
Annual memorial lacrosse game for the foundation we've created in my cousin's name... it's our 3rd year. Hoping for good turn-out. We had awesome turn out for the bull roast in March.
Weekend beach trips.
Road trip to Chicago for DH's cousin's husband's graduation from nurse anesthetist school in August. So pumped, we haven't been to visit them in CHi-town since their wedding in May '08 (though they've been to see us).
Hosting my cousin's baby shower in August... date TBD.
Hopefully we will be settling on a house sometime in May, June, or July.
We will only be in town for six weekends!! Ahh... Other than the teaching part, everything else are weekends out of town (and other than the concerts).
May/June: Vacation, niece's HS graduation, sister's 50th b-day.
June: Camping trip for sister's b-day, wedding
July: niece's HS grad party, another wedding, and teaching anatomy for two weeks straight.
August: Crazy party at BIL/SILs house. Milwaukee Irish Festival.
Concerts: U2, Eddie Vedder, Carbon Leaf, the Tossers are all we have planned right now...
DH will be working most of summer. He works in agriculture, so summer is always really busy. We're hoping he'll be able to start planting soon, but until planting starts, we don't have a time frame for a lot of activities. He'll be working a TON (like 80 hours weeks in May (planting) and July (detasselling) so I'll have a lot of free time. I may take a short trip with some girlfriends.
We know were are going to a few baseball games (Cubs and Cards) in June. In August before I start teaching we may go somewhere for an extra long weekend (maybe Memphis, Vegas, or New Orleans?).
Oh, and in August we are going to see MC Hammer and Boys 2 Men at the state fair with a bunch of my college friends. SO EXCITED.
I also have a TON of friends getting married. 2 weddings in June, 1 in July, and 5 in September. (Back to back to back weekends. 1 weekend it's a Saturday AND a Sunday, another weekend there are 2 the same day.)
Summers are always when we book a lot of travel, because of my work schedule.
June- trip to CA for a week for a friend's wedding and visiting friends/family.
July- trip to Washington and Oregon for 9 days. We're visiting a lot of family, but we're also taking a couple days at a B&B for our anniversary.
August- trip to Park City, UT at DH's family getaway for his dad's 65th birthday
We're also contemplating getting a dog right after we get back from Utah. We had to put our dog down at the end of February. We'd like to have at least a week at home to begin potty training. Yay puppy!
Wow! You girls have some crazy summers goin' on! We don't have much planned so far. What I do know:
May 14th (not exactly summer) I am a bridesmaid in a good friend's wedding.
July we are going to try going to Chicago for our anniversary.
August I always go to the New Windsor rodeo! LOVE it. And possibly to see Miranda Lambert=Eeeeee! And Darius Rucker (History in the Making was our first dance song) at the Mississippi Valley Fair. My younger cousin is getting married out of state, so I'll have to take a tiny road trip. DH most likely can't go, so it's probably just me and my mom.
And September my best friend is also getting married out of state, so I'll be driving again. I am making DH go with me to this one
What I really can't wait for is our honeymoon in October!!!! Woohoo!
I can't wait for summer!!!
In May I have my cousin and sisters graduations from college and grad school. We are also going on a little getaway for our anniversary.
We are also going to Costa Rica in July which I am soooo excited for! Other than that probably just lots of yard work and beach time.
Wow, you ladies seem very busy this summer! It's hard for me to think past the baby being born because I know our lives are going to completely change and I'm not sure how it's going to be. I've also been working on my Master's, so I will have class until the end of June
But, here's what we do have planned:
May: BABY!!
right now c-section is scheduled for May 11th (although I'm still holding out hope that he'll turn around!)
July: annual family 4th of July pig roast, possible anniversary mini-vacation
August: my cousin Heather's wedding
early September: my step brother's wedding and my cousin Ashley's wedding in New Hampshire (I'm a BM)
Wow! Lots of exciting plans!
I am working my practicum for my degree this summer, so working mid-May through July, lots of orientations (it's in academic advising, the field i'd like to get a job in!) over the summer but I only have to get 150 in order to complete the practicum. My baby sister graduates from 8th grade in June (i am so old!) and in July i think the biggest thing is our 1 year anniversary!
August is the best month! We are going to Disney with my parents & siblings for 2 weeks (yes I'll be like 30 and 31 weeks, but I LOVE disney!). No rides for me, but I'll have lots of chances to take pics with my new camera (Canon DSLR, yum!) and shop for the baby and enjoy the "slower" aspects of Disney
The last 2 weeks of august i'll be teaching guard camps (and by "teaching" i mean sitting and correcting while I get some help with the actual teaching parts, since I will be too big to spin a flag!)
Oh, and putting together the nursery!
We really don't have anything plannd yet for the summer. It's hard because we're hoping to be moving so we can't really make plans because we don't know where we'll be! We'd love to take an anniversary trip....maybe a cruise because we can book those pretty last minute and they're pretty affordable. But we'll see!
Keep your fingers crossed that we end up moving!!
