If both my girls need to be seen, can it be done in one appt? I guess I have never done it before yet!
Re: Pediatrician ?
I always take my girls in together. They just need to know so they can allot enough time for everybody.
If it's something more involved, I would schedule 2 back to back to make sure you're not putting the doc behind or feeling rushed. I've asked quick questions about the other child and had her peek in ears quickly, but I wouldn't assume they could have a full check up with one appointment time.
Are the girls sick?? I hope they didn't catch what Cam had...
My pedi in Ankeny was not very happy when I asked a question about the kid who wasn't on the schedule. But my pedi here was happy to re-check Betsy's ears at Carly's well baby exam.
I always thought they wanted 2 appointments so they could bill for both.
There's that issue too. Adam certainly doesn't mind taking a quick peek inside a kids ears when the other child is scheduled, but for some families this type of , "oh, by the way, can you just check out this (random unrelated thing) on his sister..." becomes so routine that it is pretty obvious the parents are trying to get the 2 for 1 special. Adam is a softy, so he'll usually let it slide, but he's had to draw the line when parents have asked him to look at THEM before - rashes in strange places, etc.
I've been thinking about this today. We were always happy to help squeeze truly last minute siblings in (as were the docs and nurses) but there were a few families who did this every single time they were seen. "You won't believe it, but little Jimmie just started complaining about being sick on the way over here for Suzie's appointment, AGAIN!" We were a little mores strict with those folks.
Oh, I definitely didn't figure that you would plan to do that, I knew what you meant, could you basically just have both girls seen at once by the same doctor, which is a good plan! People like this, and like Mrs.Reem described in terms of scheduling well visits back to back are no problem at all, it is the people who just spring the additional sibling on the doctor at the last minute, and jsut happen to do this every time they are in.
