Any Subaru owners?

Since I've already posted on Pets and MM, thought I should try here as well Stick out tongue

We're finally in the market for a new car and want to get one fairly soon (apparently we didn't consider that when we adopted our second 50+ lb. dog we can no longer all fit in a sedan!). We're trying to decide between a Forester and Outback, I think we need to go see how big the cargo space is between the two.

Any advice? Or recommendations for Subaru dealerships around town?

Re: Any Subaru owners?

  • Try the Austin Bump board... I believe FeistyFille loves her Subaru. :)

My parents have the Forester and I think the cargo room might be better in the Outback actually.

  • Thanks - I just posted over there!

Yea, I'm getting mixed info about the cargo space between the two. I think we're just going to take both dog crates up to a dealership and see where they fit better and do some test drives.

  • We have an Outback and love it. There is a ton of cargo room and the drive is very smooth. In fact, we did a comparison with my sister's GMC Yukon and it is the same with the seats folded down. How big are your dog crates? We can fit our two (for our 50 / 60 lb. dogs) in ours.

I have never driven a Forester, so I can't comment on the ride or cargo space. GL!

ETA: I bought mine from a dealership that is no longer in business, but we have had service done at Austin Subaru (I think that's what it's called - the one near Highland Mall) and I have always liked the folks there.

  • I own a Legacy, so I can't speak as to the sizing of Forester and Outback, but I just wanted to say that I love my Subaru and the all-wheel drive. The only dealership in town is the one by Highland mall that pp mentioned and I totally agree that they are nice people working at that dealership.

  • I have a Forester and it has been a great car. However, I've had to a have a couple of major repairs and it is really loud on the highway. I've heard that the Outback is much quieter and I think that will be our next car.
