ugh i didnt need to know that!

i went to a bridal shower today and h's uncle's girlfriend was there. they have been dating for about 3.5 years so i have talked to her quite a bit. she is okay but we all think she's pretty rude because she literally NEVER asks you any questions about yourself. while i know tons and tons about her you could pay her a million dollars and she couldn't even tell you the most basic info about me. same goes for everyone in the family.

her one saving grace though is that if you are at a party and don't feel like making small talk you can literally ask her 1 question and she is like a wind up doll that will just talk and talk and talk. you can just nod every once in awhile and zone out. so today i asked her to tell me the story of how she and h's uncle met and she went on for about an hour. she started getting personal about how long they waited to have sex and we were like uh... because it was me and uncle's niece (my sil) and we dont really want to hear that ***. plus we really like h's aunt and also they are like 50 and 60. just all and all we dont want to hear about uncle in the sack. then she ends her story by saying "and so basically for 3.5 years i have been addicted to it like cocaine." ugh.... later h's mom walked up and she said it again and mil turned around and walked away!

  • Ugh.  Way too much information.

That reminds me of some of the discussions I've had with my mom.  I've learned way more than I ever could want to know about her and my step-dad's private life.  Ick!

oh wow. learning parent related sex stuff is just gross! my bff tells me stuff she and her mom have talked about like how her mom said her dad was really good in bed (they have long since divorced). i am like that's great for you but there is no way in hell i could have that conversation with my mom. i would just die.

  • You are a good person! I probably would rather talk to no one than deal with that.

  • that is annoying, but I'm with ya on the whole "using her for small talk at a party where you don't know many people, or are not in a socializing mood".

I've been there, but yes, you do end up hearing way too much and wishing you had sat next to the bride-to-be to stay busy writing down the gift list.

  • Yuck! I was at my BFF's bachelorette party this weekend and two of our friends gave us WAY more information than we needed, it was awkward with friends let alone older family members!
