Floral help

My brother is coming home in June to get married.  The wedding is really small and simple.  Mom and I are planning the entire wedding as my brother and soon to be SIL (who I haven't met and won't until 2 days before the wedding - EEEEKKKK!) are stationed in Germany so she's given us pretty much free reign...anyways...since our budget is smaller than our guest list, we've decided to DIY the flowers.  She want's white roses and orchids and her colors are white and yellow.  So, any rec's in the Sac (and surrounding areas) of where I can buy the flowers to make into bouquets?

Thanks!

Re: Floral help

  • Try Costco, especially for the roses. You might also want to Google "flowers in bulk" and see what you come up with. I know some other ladies on here have done their own flowers for their weddings, so hopefully you'll get other ideas too. Good luck!
  • I've heard of other people here getting good deals at grocery stores. We did that with my sister's wedding in the midwest. Not sure what stores here people have used though. Safeway, maybe?

Small weddings are the best! (I had one, I'm biased.)

  • I ordered the flowers for my wedding from Costco and it was a great value. You can place a special order, say for white roses and orchids and maybe a couple other white flowers for any other arrangements (ask for suggestions of what will be available at that date). Doing all white for the flowers I think simplifies things for non-florist people, no risk the yellow comes and is the wrong shade etc.

If you have a family or friend with jasmine (small white flowers) in their yard, we used that in the other arrangements for a drapey effect over the top of the vases and it looked fabulous.

Let me know if you have questions - we did all the flowers ourselves - bouquets, bouts, 2 large alter arrangements, and centerpieces were live orchid plants.

  • I did all of my own flowers, with the help of DH.  I bought them from Sam's club.  I think I have pics in my bio.  You can always go on the TK DIY board and get tips from some other ladies who have done their own flowers.
