Accountability Tuesday

How'd we do this week, ladies?

I'm dead even with last week. I'm actually really surprised I didn't gain, given my whole "F THIS, I'M IN PAIN SO I'LL EAT WHATEVER I WANT" attitude for most of last week. I'll take it. AF should be here by this weekend, so I'll probably be up next week.

I did okay with workouts once I started feeling better. Tonight, I'm running for a half an hour, then hopping in the pool to swim laps for half an hour.

I don't know who reads my blog, but I'm giving up sweets for the week. I feel like sweets are my biggest weakness, so I hope just saying "No" for a week will teach me some willpower.

Re: Accountability Tuesday

  • I suck at life. But muh kitchen is SPARKLY clean. lol

I'm about to be visited by AF, so I'll at least drop a lb from that.

DH and I are still working out a custody agreement for the gym, so I'm in this weird non-schedule limbo that isn't helping my motivation.

Oh and I ate for crap. haha

  • I lost another 2 pounds this week. But some of the choices I had to make to stay on track (skipping dessert after Easter dinner, for example) really sucked and I am struggling with finding a balance. How much/often am I allowed to indulge and cheat? I have been really strict for the past month and it is working, but I'm afraid when I loosen up I will go overboard (um hello, past experience). There's got to be a middle ground.

I am still consistently going to the gym once a week lol. Maybe this week I can try to get there twice.

  • Interesting point, Leah.

Dessert on Easter? I would've said yes, but keep it in a smaller portion. Dessert on a random Sunday? Turn it down.

  • I worked out 5 days this week but I didn't stay on point so I gained a pound. I think some of it may be muscle (wishful thinking?) but considering how I ate I'm not too disappointed.

  • I've been eating crap lately, but only eating a little bit of crap, so that means I haven't lost, but I haven't gained.  I ran/walked 12 miles last week, so that was pretty awesome for me.  Im hoping to go farther this week.

I've been off work for 5 days and I always eat better at work, so hopefully once I start work again this afternoon I'll be back on track.

I saw your no sweets thing and I just dont think I can do it, but I know I need to limit mine.  I firmly believe that the more sweets you eat, the more you want, so I try to limit them because of that.

  • I started using myfitnesspal.com to track calories.  I knew I was eating more than I should, but I didn't know just how much until I started tracking.  At first I entered my goal to lose a pound a week and said I was lightly active and my calorie count was 1320.  I felt like that was too low.  I changed my goal to 0.5 lb a week and my activity level to active and now I can have around 1500 calories.  Is that cheating?

I am not sure how much I weigh.  Last time I was at the gym, I was 142 without shoes, which is down from 144 which I was at the doctor's office a couple weeks ago.

What's your myfitnesspal name?  Im lanerbell on there too.  You can be friends with me and Jodi!

I thought myfitnesspal's calorie allotment was too low, so I upped it too.  I dont think it's cheating.

  • I did surprisingly well this week staying within my points even with dinner at Mellow. I lost three pounds since a week ago when I weighed in for work's biggest loser contest.Same goals as usual for this week - stay within points (maybe don't dip into activity points if I'm feeling extra motivated), no drinking on weeknights, and keep working out.

  • I had a crappy week for food and exercise, so I'm up a pound at 151. Last week was just a crappy week in general. Too much going on, and I never planned our meals, which makes a HUGE difference. And my knee hurt all week, so I just gaffed off workouts. This week I'm doing better with food planning, and I've been taking some glucosamine for several days now, so the knee is feeling better.

I wasn't able to get any exercise in yesterday, and I've got a doctor's appointment this evening, so I planned some outside time with the boys this morning. I played soccer with Jeffery in the front yard for about 15-20 minutes (holding Jonathan since he was clingy), and I will count that for a serious workout since I was sucking wind afterward! I also got in about a half hour of serious weed-pulling and rock removal in our front beds! The plan is to at least get a half hour of walking, some sort of medium activity on the days I can't really hit it. Tomorrow the babysitter is coming, so I'll be going for a run by myself in the morning. I have set a goal for myself of running the 4th of July 5K on base, hopefully in a decent time and without stopping. But I'll just be glad to finish, since I've never been a runner.

Not to be a total Debbie Downer, but I think a lot of the calorie counters aim low because users are ingesting more than they realize by guessing portion sizes or incorrectly measuring. Therefore, aiming low balances out & the user loses weight which equals a successful product.

You're probably right because when I'm OCD about tracking correctly I lose more, but I usually still lose when I wing it calorie wise, but still track. When I was 182 and it gave me 1200, of course I would lose, but I knew that wasn't sustainable, so I upped it to 1430. I really think just being conscious (is that the right word, it looks weird) of what you're eating and keeping track of it helps you lose no matter what the calorie allotment.

  • I have planned my meals for the last four weeks in a row, which has been awesome. I did 2 strike zone classes, a weight lifting session with a trainer and a spin class, so a really good workout week. My eating was great until the weekend, I was really bad Saturday and Sunday night. My weight is maintaining but I am finally starting to see some differences in my body.
