hit me with your holiday themed wedding shower ideas
Going to one in May. Any holiday.
I know that they have their own ornament collection, so I am not going to go that route. But Christmas is an interesting proposition if I could find a well-made and handsome Santa figurine (some of them are such shyte)
I thought about flag day and about buying a decent house-attachment flag pole (center city row how) with a nice American flag.
I also thought about a super cool pumpkin carving tool kit.

Re: hit me with your holiday themed wedding shower ideas
what a cute idea! i love it.
i like flag day/ 4th of july. you could do the flag and/or a picnic basket with the plates, napkins, sparklers and all that fun stuff.
memorial day/labor day and get bbq tools, spices/sauces, and a gc for omaha steaks.
what about arbor day or earth day and a gc to home depot/lowes for gardening supplies? window boxes? i am trying to think outside of the traditional holidays...
ooooh arbor/earth day. interesting idea.
on the picnic theme, some sort of cool roll-about cooler with things inside might be interesting
I don't know when the shower is but if you keep an eye on ideeli and ruelala type sites (if you're a member), they usually have Ascot picnic baskets filled with plates and flatware or ones that hold a few wine bottles. It can be pretty nice stuff.
If they are drinkers, get them some frosted mugs or some such item for St. Patrick's Day.
i like the idea of fancy pumpkin craving kit, i know williams and sonoma had one.
also for flags you could go down to the awesome flag shop down on arch between 3rd/4th and get an older style flag or something
For my shower, my BFF's mom gave me a huge basket filled with all different kinds of things for each holiday of the year.
For example, she bought me place mats for every holiday, hand/kitchen towels, table runners, salt and pepper shakers, fabric napkins with matching napkin rings, matching plastic plates/cups for 4th of July/Labor Day/Memorial Day, and things like that for each holiday. The basket that she put everything in also came with an interchangeable fabric liner that I can change for every holiday. The basket was great because I always have something for every holiday and not just one holiday.
I know you can get a lot of these things pretty inexpensively at places like Kohls.
Picnic Time is on RueLaLa today. Someone mentioned it and they have some really good sets on there for cheap!
And I got a Thanksgiving serving platter from a friend at my shower. Something I totally didn't register for but soooo great to have. I haven't hosted T-day yet but eventually I will. My Mom has one and it always looks cute when she brings it out each year. It's something I never thought of by any means.
My Mom also has a set of xmas irish coffee mugs, which is also a tradition and brings out each xmas morn so we can drink irish coffees
I want to get my own set.
My MIL put together a napkin basket for me this xmas and I thought it was cute. She gathered cocktail napkins for each holiday of the year. I haven't used any yet, but I figured they would be good for entertaining.
One more idea...Super Bowl Sunday. While not exactly a holiday, it's something most people participate in.
A friend of mine got this for her shower filled with snacks and goodies:

I got this, with personalized stationary which was cute:

Yess....
Margarita glasses, salt, mix, tequila, maybe a sombrero. If you want to drop $$$, get the Margaritaville margarita maker.
