Honeymoon Update

So DH and I just got back from the travel agent about our long awaited honeymoon, and it seems like it will be a feasible trip.  It's going to be about $2200 for a 5 night all inclusive resort in Riviera Maya.  That includes flights and charter to the resort from the airport in Cancun.

If we fly out of Chicago on a chartered flight, we only have to put down a $250 deposit, versus if we stay in our hometown and fly out of the smaller airport there, it requires a $1,040 deposit.  I think we'll be going out of Chicago, simply because we will be using my summer coaching income to pay for most of the trip, and don't really want to put down $1,040 on the CC to sit and accrue interest until we could pay it off in the summer with my extra income.

I'm really REALLY nervous to pay this much for something though, even after talking with the travel agent.  But, still very excited at the prospect of finally going on our honeymoon and taking our very first trip together (yes, after nearly 6 years, we have NEVER gone anywhere besides an overnight trip together).  We have to call the agent with the CC number tomorrow by 4 to lock in our trip.

I'm SO scared!  It's so much money!

Re: Honeymoon Update

  • You are going to have a blast!  I love traveling to new places and experiencing the world!  You'll have to let us know how the trip goes!  DH and I were thinking of going somewhere tropical in November.  We thought about Riviera Maya!

  • JUST DO IT!!!!!  You won't regret it!  I totally understand the nerves in spending the money, but those memories will be priceless.

    Have FUN!!!!!!

  • Grrrrrl just go!  You only live once, and it's a "rational" splurge vs. say, a $20,000 car that you don't need.  Travel is important to adding culture and excitement and relaxation to your life, in my opinion, and you need to take your honeymoon already ;-)
  • That's so exciting!  You're going to have a fabulous time!  And you give me hope that someday we'll find the time/money to take a real honeymoon ourselves :)
