Who to contact on status of job HR rep or Hiring Official
I interviewed on March 21. The HO indicated that the organization/search committee would be conducting their "due diligence" (exact words that they used) and then would get back to me.
So:
1) Is it OK to send a follow-up email to check on the status of the process/application? and if so,
2) Would you send it to the HR rep that set up the interview or the HO and search committee chair.
If it helps, this is a position in Academia
Re: Who to contact on status of job HR rep or Hiring Official
You can never go wrong with sending a follow-up email to the HR rep. At the very least, the HR rep will forward it to the decision maker.
Was the Hiring Official someone you had a "final" interview with? And did they confirm they would be the one to get back to you? If that's the case, I would send the follow-up email to that person.
In my years of working in academia, the search committee chairs don't typically contact the candidate, so I wouldn't contact the chair.
