Anyone ever try to get a Groupon refund?

I'm just wondering if such a thing a possible. Basically, I bought a groupon with every intention of using it but I hadn't scheduled it right away. Now, while i have time and would love to do it, my doctor says it's a no go until after the groupon expires. do you think there's any chance groupon would give me a refund or do i should i try to talk to the vendor and see if they'd extend my expiration date? otherwise, i guess i could try to make H use it and see what happens which while funny, defeats the original purpose of why i bought the groupon in the first place.

  • I would ask the vendor first (couldn't hurt, right?), but if that was a thumbs-down you could try reselling through LifeSta.com - http://www.lifesta.com/sell

  • I agree with PP, I would see if the vendor would extend the expiration date for you. I have had success in getting a refund; basically I bought it for a service and because the vendor was overwhelmed with responses to the Groupon, it was very difficult to schedule appointments. Groupon was very understanding, but I think it helped that I was not the first person to call and complain about this vendor.
  • I did - I purchased one for laser hair removal but didn't think about the fact that I'd need multiple treatments and we were about to TTC so I couldn't get it done before getting pregnant.  Most laser hair removal vendors (including that one) won't perform the services on a pregnant person, so I would not have been able to use the groupons.  I just emailed groupon and explained the situation and they refunded it within a few days.  It was really easy.  GL!

  • Yes. Once the merchant no longer offered exactly what was on the Groupon. For this they gave me a refund. The other time it was more my fault and they gave me Groupon Bucks to use on a future Groupon. I think they are overall pretty good about it.
