So tell me about your ipad2. For my birthday, I'm either going to get an ipad or a second laptop. We already have one laptop. I'm having a hard time deciding. I realize it's not a laptop replacement, but we already have one laptop. I mainly want to use it for checking email, surfing the web, and playing with fun apps. Second laptop would be for same purpose, minus the apps.
I've asked a few people but I'm having a hard time making a decision. How is surfing the net on it?
Re: **larrysdarling**
I love love love it.
It's not a replacement for a laptop, you're correct, but we have barely cracked open the laptop since we got our Ipads (dh and I each got one). DH downloaded a program that allows him to login to his actual laptop desktop so if he needs to use MS word, excel, etc, he can do it through the Ipad.
The internet on it is lightning fast. The colors are so vivid. We watch Netflix on it in bed. It's handy when holding the baby - my big issue is I couldn't bf the babe and use the laptop at the same time b/c of it's bulk. That issue has been solved with the ipad.
I have been able to look up recipes and prop it up in the kitchen like a cook book.
I like using it for email, as well. The only pita is that I don't like to post on TN/TB with it b/c I have to go in, disable Javascript, post, then reenable it. Looking at pictures on it is really enjoyable as well.
It also has a kindle app that you can download. The only issue is the huge glare on the screen if you're trying to read outside.
In summary, I love mine and I'd highly recommend it.
Great, thanks for your thoughts. I actually went and played with one at the apple store, but silly me never actually opened the internet browser and tried checking out websites. I was too interested in watching the Up clip on it and playing with the games.
I also considered buying an ipad 1 on ebay. I've seen a new in box ipad 1 with original warranty with 32G of memory go for about 400ish.
Decisions, decisions. Main thing is if I get one, I want it for when we go to florida on May 21st, so I'm cutting it really close ordering one from Apple.
How long did it take you to get yours?
Honestly I'd just cough up the extra dough for the ipad2.
We got the 32 gig w/o wifi.
Also, the Apple store has been out of stock. DH waited in line at the CC apple store and got his ipad, he ordered mine from Walmart.com, and he also had one backordered from the Apple store. The one from the apple store online took a month to get here and just got her the other day - but he is going to return it.
Which reminds me, if you can't find one and you want a 32 gig black one, I'd be happy to sell it to you.
Current wait time according to the apple website is 1-2 weeks. Just not sure if that's accurate.
Let me talk to Dave about your extra one. The 32 gig ipad 2 is a little more than we wanted to spend, but having one readily available is very very tempting. I will get back to you.
