*donsgirl or anyone else that has cruised while pregnant*

hi, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you (donsgirl) cruised while pregnant right? We are leaving for an 8 night cruise out of NY on Thursday. We planned it before we found out about the pregnancy, and I didn't think we should cancel. I'll be 11 weeks 4 days when we leave. Did you get motion sickeness while on the ship? I haven't really had any actual throwing up during my pregnancy, just nausea around weeks 8-9, so I'm really concerned this might bring it on. I don't normally get motion sickness from cruising, and I also figure since I'm close to 2nd tri it might not be that terrible. However, I want to be prepared. How was the experience overall? If there is anyone else that has done a cruise while pregnant please feel free to chime in. TIA!

  • I didn't cruise while pregnant but you should be fine.  You are allowed to cruise until 26 weeks pregnant or so.  I've been on cruises before and had motion sickness -- if you are fine normally, then I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be this time!  If anything, buy the motion sickness bracelets at a drug store before going and some ginger candy :)  Have fun!

  • I think you should be fine.  Think of all the money you'll save on the bar bill.  Ours is usually astronomical!
  • We went on a cruise with my sil when she was pregnant and she was fine. She got sick one evening but EVERYONE got sick because the ocean was particularly rough that night. I agree that if you don't normally get sick then you should be ok. Have a great cruise! I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back :)

  • I haven't cruised while PG, but I've cruised, and I've been PG. LOL

I think if you really haven't had any issues thus far with morning sickness you should be fine. Agree about the bar bill comment! You'll save tons of money!!

  • Heyy yes i did cruise while i was pg!! & if i remember correctly it was right around the same time as you! I think i hit 11 weeks while on the cruise. I had cruised a bunch before i was pg & never got motion sickness. & like you i only threw up once while pg just had bouts of nausea here & there. I will say while on the cruise i was a bit nauseous especially at night when they picked up speed. Just get some gingerale and you should be fine. It was nothing too terrible where it ruined my time or anything. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!! I haven't gotten a chance to answer your post yet but Congratulations!! soo happy for you! & enjoy your cruise!! <3

  • I was not pregnant but nauseous all during the last cruise I took - generally speaking, it gets worse when you cross from cold into warm water (like the 2nd day).  Those wrist bands are the best thing ever.
