Bday gift for a 1 year old boy?

I need some suggestions....I have no clue what he plays with and his mom said he likes "everything". I don't know where to start.

Any suggestions?!

  • Wooden puzzles that have handles (melissa and doug), anything to help him walk if he isn't yet, a kiddie pool/toys, bubbles for outside , chalk, a book ( there's cute ones at Target. One is called "Little hands love" and another is called "Little feet love" and they're good for that age, something they can sit and scoot on (ames posted a giraffe one the other day I believe) hth!
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

Thanks Tonia!! Those all sound like awesome ideas!

  • books!  Maybe I'm old school, but kids have SO many toys.  My BFF's little boy just turned 1 and the amount of toys he got was ridiculous.  For Christmas I got him a bunch of Dr. Seuss books (never go out of style), and for his bday I got him all fo the Eric Carle books - the hungry caterpillar, the very busy spider, and the grouchy ladybug (his party was bug themed).  I think building a kid's library with those classic books so neat.

Last year for the triplets 1st birthday, I bought like 10 of the Curious George books.  Because shoot, they are 1-year old triplet boys - they're all little monkeys!  They are 2 now and just love them!

Maybe I'm just a book nerd.

I'll be the same way.  Buying kids books is the only thing that excites me about having kids right now, lol!

I bought all of the little kiddos in the family a really nice, hardcover Polar Express last year for Christmas.  This year was The Grinch that Stole Christmas.  Next year I think will be a good copy of Night Before Chrismas...

I'm always going to be the crazy aunt that buys everyone books...

  • I have 3 1st birthday parties in 3 months... I'm sticking with the same structure, but different per child.  Always a book, a toy, and an outfit.  You just can't go wrong! ;D

Get Jan Brett's Night Before Christmas. Her illustrations are spectacular. She's my favorite children's author/illustrator so I'm biased.
