How to burn an extra $100

Hey Ladies...I won a contest at work this week and my prize is $100...this got me thinking...how would you spend/burn $100 bucks?  No paying bills or saving it - we're talking play money here...Ok go!

Re: How to burn an extra $100

  • Margaritas at Festival.

  • Oh God this is too easy for me to do ...

Is there anything you've had your eye on? A new spring/summer purse? Cute new shoes? A pretty new sundress?

How about a facial or a spa mani/pedi?

A nice dinner out with your husband?

I could go on and on...Embarrassed

    Any of these!

My first thought was definitely some cute new shoes or a cute new purse, because that's what I always end up buying when I have extra money. MIL gave me some money for my birthday and that's probably what I'll end up buying with it.

  • I know, boring answer, BUT baby stuff! I'd go crazy!! tutus, bows, little dress shoes, etc... I know it's lame, but I've been so good with my budgeting and not buying things for baby... it's really hard.

  • Oh, too easy lol!

    Facial, massage, or mani/pedi

    or

a date night upgrade to a nicer restaurant

    or

    a concert

    or

part of my wishlist on either amazon or iTunes!

  • How about that sewing machine you were talking about a while back?

I'd get really nice garden pots and flowers. Or even cut flowers  for the house for the next few weeks in a row.

    Or perfume.

And something naughty like a nice nightie.

  • The Sims Medieval and books for my eReader that we just bought.

I just got an extra $225 from saved up credit card points, so that's how we afforded the eReader to begin with. :D

ETA:  And thanks for posting this.  This post reminded me that I have $50 in gift cards to cash out from my work. We can't get cash, so I *have* to pick a store that I can splurge in.  Darn... haha.

  • Congratulations Linds!  Since it's spring I'm always down for a new spring/summer wardrobe.  I'd spend it on new clothes/accessories.  I'd look for sales though to get the most bang for my buck - so it's not TOTALLY impractical!

This is totally NOT a boring answer - if I were KU I would TOTALLY do the same thing without thinking twice :)

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies - I gave myself a pedicure a couple weeks ago and it wasnt too difficult so I think I may stick with doing my own for a while.  The sewing machine is a good idea, and so are the new clothes.  I'm also considering some kitchen stuff...we'll see :)   I'm gonna try to think on it for a week before spending it lol.  I'll let you ladies know what I end up deciding.

  • Pardon my two cents, but I may have to second the sewing machine answer... I've really been wanting one lately. (I have one, but it's old and needs maintenance and that's almost the cost of buying a new one... so we'll see)... you can do so much with a sewing machine... pillow cases and bags are the absolute easiest things ever.

  • You should go for the sewing machine!!

If it were me, I'd buy house stuff... I love stores like HomeGoods, and I'd buy frivolous things like vases or other decorative stuff that I like but don't "need" that I wouldn't ordinarily buy with cash :)

  • I would kill for a massage right about now, so I'd get a massage and a pedi.  There are far more practical (and some not-at-all practical) things I could spend it on, but I would give anything for a massage.  I trade massage for babysitting with a good friend, but I haven't sat lately and I am all outta massages.  I have a gift certificate that will cover about a third of one at a local spa, but we're going out of town shortly and my son's birthday is this weekend, so I can't afford the rest of the cost for a while.  *sigh*

    Congrats, Linds!

  • get my hair done!

or hold onto it for my vacation coming up in a couple weeks

  • since I got an extra $100 this paycheck I did:  a mani and pedi for $75 and the other $25 was extras for easter including a beautiful plant for my mom. :)
  • I love the fresh flowers for a few weeks idea. That's a treat I don't often do, but a great way to make use of this extra cash.  Because personally, I would not put it towards something I was already planning on doing (like getting a sewing machine or putting it towards vacation) - boring! When you could use it to treat yourself or buy a nice pair of shoes. After all, the money just landed in your lap. It's a great excuse to do something out of the ordinary.
