Wednesday Workshop

What are you working on?

I tried to figure out what to plant in my flower gardens last night. But ended up only coming out of the store with 3 small gerbera daisy plants. I have SUCH a hard time making decisions. I'm going to have my mom help me figure out what to plant since her gardens are always gorgeous and this will be my first real one!

Other than that, just trying to keep my house clean and be caught up with the laundry...which im still not able to do. Haha. I'm such a bad housekeeper.

Re: Wednesday Workshop

  • our projects this spring our to get a new water heater, get french doors to open to the backyard, get baseboards, paint them, and get them installed, and fix up the garage.  DH also wants to re-do all the landscaping in the front of the house.   I am hoping to complete this whole list by next fall.

The baseboards is going to be the hardest because we have to match up the paint (there was hot water heating before so there is one wall in each room with no baseboard, which we have to put up to match the other three walls).  I really wish I would have just painted all the baseboards when we painted the house.

Kim-did you guys end up deciding on a  color for your spare room?

  • We completely redid the landscaping in our back yard last Saturday.  Considering when we moved in there were 3 + feet weeds and a water hose that was left running... to a bare dirt back yard... to this weekend where we laid sod on mulch and some flowers and shrubs. It's completely different and now we're trying not to kill it and keep it watered.   Our next project is deciding what we want to plant in the little patch in front that we're allowed to plant in.

Inside the house, we just have to paint the main hallway and the stairs going down to the basement. The paints already bought, we were waiting on DH getting help from my dad to repair the hole DH put in the wall trying to cram a couch he and his mother bought for the basement before we had closed and without measurements...That couch is now permanently in the living room. We also need to do the downstairs half bath- I have to remove the border then pick out paint. We hope to finish those sometime over the summer.   Once I get a full time job we want to replace all the hardwood (there are tons of deep scratches and they guy who put it in before we moved couldn't cut straight...lots of places where the floor has large gaps) and replace all the baseboards- they are different colors every where theres a new piece of trim. It seriously looks like they just tried to match up little pieces that were all different colors to fit the long edges of the walls. This we would like to do over the summer of 2012 providing we have the cash.

I'm thinking just a light neutral beigey color and painting all the trim white.

You have to paint the baseboards the same color as the room? What about painting them all the same color as the trim? I've seen that done and it looks nice.

The existing baseboards are like an off white color, but there are several walls with no baseboards at all (the wall just goes right down into the carpet).  So we have to buy baseboards for these walls and somehow match them to the other baseboards.  I should just paint all of them because the existing baseboards could use a fresh coat, and that would gaurentee the new ones would match, but we'll see.

I LOVE the bedding you chose!

  • I just finished up both my invitation orders. I shipped one out yesterday and the other is going out at the end of the week. I have pictures so I'll post those later tonight.

Kim - what about painting the room a light blue? That way you have a little bit of color without being too much color. With that comforter (which is great by the way!) it would be almost beachy/spa-y. Just a suggestion1

  • Kim, I love that bedding too! It's so pretty!

Just like last week, I need to work on my final project for my grad class. It's my last class - I graduate in like 2 weeks. I'm just so damn unmotivated. It's kind of like senioritis.

I was just going to say this!  I think some color would look awesome with this neutral bedding, which btw I LOVE.

As for projects...I've got schoolwork coming out of my ears that I need to do.  Not much fun, but it's all due next Friday, so I better get on it!

  • I third painting the room blue!

I am off to buy a rug for my office!!   I am officially done with my formal lectures for the year!! Woo hoo!!  But I still have 1-2 "case study" sessions to lead in two weeks.

My plan is to finish the office this weekend and finally finish unpacking everything, and then start painting our bedroom next weekend (I painted the other two rooms before the quarter started).
