Alaska...Anyone ever been?
If yes, what did you do there? DH and I leave in 3 weeks to visit his brother and sister in law. They live in Anchorage but we plan to try and get out as much as possible (DH's brother is a bush pilot). Anyway they keep asking us if there is anything specific we want to do or see, and I have no clue...any ideas??

A10 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination: San Francisco!
I went once, around 7 or 8 years ago, it was breathtaking! I spent most of the time in Anchorage since I was there to keep my sister company as she did the Anchorage marathon. We did go down to Seward for a few days. It's a cute little town, not much to do but worth it just for the ride from Anchorage to Seward - holy scenery batman. I remember we did some wildlife boat ride that was pretty cool (saw eagles), saw some icebergs, went hiking etc. Our activities were a bit limited since my sister was preserving her energy for the marathon. We were there during the summer solstice and it was really neat to be walking around at 1 am and have it still be light out.
Just make sure you bring some heavy/winter stuff. I remember having to buy a fleece and a rain jacket because it didn't dawn on me that it would be much colder in higher elevations or when going to see icebergs; and it rains there a lot.
I want to go back there since we didn't have time to see Denali (I forget why our trip wasn't longer... I think money was tight then for one of us). There are a lot of nice areas north of Anchorage that look like they'd be worth a visit.
